Very nice results,

I've been following your Pro lens 17" plog on the build with baited breath in anticipation of retro fitting my 15" to the new Pro lens kit.
Your projection looks great, excellent contrast, eveness and crisp
edge to edge focus.

What is your throw (or planned) with the new lens and screen size i'm interested?
Also, i'm assuming your fresnel config is unsplit? as i recall through testing you found the focus superior to split.

Another shot, just watching some anime.

This is the new lenses. biggrin.gif The throw is a tad under 11'. Current screen size is 95" or so in 5:4 aspect ratio. I've "dimmed it down" to improve lighting evenness. That last picture is about 250 lumens, which works for me. At the highest brightness I had, bright scenes hurt, particularly when it was a sudden jump from a dark scene.

I managed to borrow a friend and his Nikon D70 for a few hours today.

Th following were taken with a Nikon D70, ASA 200 equiv, F-Stop 1.8. Exposure times vary from 1/8s to 1/2s, depending on the scene. (I have 1/8, 1/4 and 1/2s exposures for all of these scenes.) The desktop was best in the middle at 1/4s.

First, the Windows Desktop:

Oh, and since the resized image doesn't do justice to it at all, here's the AVG icon from the top corner. This demonstrates corner focus with the pro lens set. Note the clearly visible pixellation in the text.

There are also some abberations, due to my current screen, which is a pair of bedsheets thumbtacked to the wall. I have BOC, which I'll bebuilding a new improved screen with... When I get the time.

Here's a good dark scene. This is taken with a 1/2 sec exposure to show the contrast and detail that is actually visible to the eye.

Here's another from Lord of the Rings -- Weathertop.

And these are bright scenes, taken with a 1/8s exposure.

In the 1/4 and 1/2 second exposures, the detail in the shirt is no longer discernable, while it is clear to the eye,

Now a couple of standard shots, just because.

And some anime, RaXephon in this case.

All in all, I'm very happy with the projector, and the new 6500K T15 lamp, which replaces the old 4000K PS T15 lamp. Direct swap-in, running the same (old) lumenlab e-ballast. Switchover time was less than 60 seconds. (Excluding cool-down time.)

Congrats Supra images looks nice and bright not to mention sharp. It's a shame that will my m59 ballast that I can't just swap out for a 65k bulb going to have to stick with the 4k for now. I should ask how large your anime collection is I'm always looking for some tips on good mecha anime.

From what I know, the 6500K lamp does use an M59 ballast. I had thought that the 4000K lamp was a pulse-strike, and needed a different ballast.

As far as my anime collection, well, it's quite large. I've been meaning to come up with a complete list of it, but haven't found the time. I have a lot of DVDs in general. Tons of anime as well. Stuff I'm currently watching tends to get put on the hard disk, so I don't have to look for disks when I go to pick up the next episode of whatever. It seems though that when I get to the end of a series, I tend to just buy more hard drive space instead of deleting what's there, so there's about a terrabyte worth of stuff on the drive, probably 2/3 of which is anime. Actually most of the other 1/3 is high-def stuff. smile.gif

While I do like the 6500K lamp, I don't know that it's all that huge a difference in viewing experience. The 4000K lamp looked great to me before. Your eyes adjust to the slightly warmer white balance quickly. Actually, it's probably better if you are adapting from incandescent lighting.

So, as far as I'm concerned, now I just have an extra lamp. smile.gif

Cool I guess the big difference would be that I would have a smaller bulb and not the globe one. I actualy like the quality of the 4000k myself. Anime can be addictive which is why I try to find just the movies and not the series nothing hurts more than watching 80 episodes of something and then they just stop dry.gif
