AG removal was too tempting not to try. I decided to go with the rag method.

Now things get interesting. After a lot of dicking around with my fresnels and pro lens, I settled on an unsplit configuration. My projector will be at least 17 ft. from the wall, so I'm told keystoning is not really a big issue if the PJ is mounted on the ceiling. Like a dumbass, I had the pro lens in backwards intially, but Supra set me straight.
My screen consist of a crappy bedsheet right now and the enclosure is VERY temporary. You can see the studs on an unfinished wall through the sheet if you look closely

Now for the totally crappy latest news. After taking the screen shots in the previous post, a stray piece of wood fell on the FFC and damaged one totally trashing the display in the process
I got the LCD off ebay for a great price, so now I'm screwed.
PLAN B
Purchasing an LT-P1745 17" from Tigerdirect. AG should remove same way and strip should be easy plus 1280x1024 resolution. The beauty of this series of tv's is that they have s-video, composite, component, and VGA. 480P is possible using component video, which is how my setup will work.
The extra cost is offset by the inclusion of all the input types, saving me the headache of a convertor.
480P is gorgeous on the LT-P1545!!!!!
Since I'm cornholing myself really good here, I also have to replace my fresnels, since I already cut them to fit the 15".
In the end, I'll have a better projector with a bigger screen, but it nearly killed me to lose the LT-P1545. It is perfect for this project!!!!!!

Thanks!! I don't know which is worse, my camera or my screen. I have BO cloth on order from lumenlab. Should be much better with that.

I should point out that AG removal on the LT-P1545 is worth it in every way. The brightness and clarity appears much better. The difference was unbelievable. Unfortunately I do not have any before pics with the AG.

Sorry to hear about the mishap. I'm still searching for a suitable 17" for my 2nd build and would like to see your strip pics on the monitor. Q: Is AG only on the viewed side? I saw in another plog that it can be on both sides of a panel, but that seems highly unusual to me. Thanks! (and good luck)

on the Samsung, it is just on the viewing side. The other side is glossy. I'm hoping the lt-p1745 strips the same way as the 15"
Got the new 17" monitor in today. SWEEEEEET
Ordered a reflector from www.bigtray.com. (Thanks Scorpiator & tmproff!)
17" LT-P1745 Strip initial pics.
This monitor looks like it will strip exactly the same as the LT-P1545. Cool!
Hopefully the AG will remove just as easily as well.

Hey man, this is looking good, but my question is this: Im in the UK and its al going HD very soon, so I want to buy a LCD with HD capabilities, what connections do I need?
Any help would be great.
P.s. How big were your initial images, im gonna project from 13' away from screen.

I think for HD you'd want HDMI. This monitor/tv will do up to 480P (EDTV). I opted out of HD this go-around due to cost. I'm not planning on changing any of my other equipment to HD just yet, so 480P is good enough.
I'm using the pro lens and setting my projector back about 17' from the screen. At that distance, I'll have a little over 13' diagonal. At 13' you should have nearly 10' diagonal. Both measurements assume 4:3 aspect ratio.
To qualify for the 'HD ready' symbol, a sisplay has to have at leasy 1280x720 resolution, and support HDCP. HDMI is not necessary, as HDCP is also supported on DVI.
You might be able to pick up a 17" HD-ready set for about £300, or a non-HD ready (no HDCP, but still 1280x720) 15.4" panel for about £120. I'm goimg to go for the smaller panel, and I can always add in a HDCP stripper if I really need it.

Hey GEP,
Hadn't spotted your PLOG before. Nice to see a successful AG strip - I'm still contemplating whether I should attempt mine. I guess my LCD is a little like yours was going to be, i.e. lots of inputs, remote etc.
Cheers - Richster

Rich he did the ag removal and said that it came out great. I'm suprised that you are lettting a little ole ag removal scare you. I read your plog seems to be going great so far but you had better watch out for your ffc connections. Your Hass style build shows that you have better woodworking skills than most of us in here so take the plunge with the ag but test out your screen with it first if you like it then don't do it.
The ag removal is a bit harder the longer you have your lcd running inthe pj though at least thats my opinion
