I placed a standard small reflector pulled from a OHP. I placed it right against the 150w hqi osram double ended bulb. The bulb is touching the reflector. I place my standard OHP double unsplit fresnel at its FL 120mm and then I place the lcd at about 1 inch from the double fresnel.

With the lcd turned off i place my head where the lcd would be. Looking at the lcd it looks evenly lit with the arc centered. Now I turn on the lcd and the light is no longer covering the entire lcd.
The fresnel is slightly larger then the lcd. I would say about 2 cm wider on each side and 1.5cm over the top and also 1.5cm over the bottom.

Convinced that unsplit design works just fine i decided to place a white paper in place of the fresnel. I then examined the light eveness hitting this fresnel to test my light engine.
I then pulled the reflector and just used the bare 150w hqi bulb to to the same white paper test.
Well as you would expect the light was much more even on the paper then with the reflector active.

So why is this happening? Is it because I am not using a condensor and pro reflector goes hand in hand with condensor?

Is the job of the condensor to spread the beam or narrow it?

What if I use a soup bowl reflector? I heard someone complaining that the reflector turned yellow? Am i safe with Stainless steel?

hi dracul2006
i have been trying to build a projector useing ohp parts, what a pain
best way i found was use a clear cd case with pen drawn X on case. first used light source and lense at measured distance as stated in diamentions 27.5" long, then moved lenses back and forth till got sqaure light source on wall,(you know that one everybody stands infront of) then used cd case till focused on wall
thats were you want every thing to sit make your measure marks.

you can use focus on wall method as link below
