I'm wondering if this type of folded design is possible? I've seen many designs with the mirror bouncing the image into the lens, but I'd like to make the top of the projector as small and eye pleasing as possible.

What I was thinking that with this type of design you could use the adjustable mirror as a keystone. Is this correct or would the resulting image be distorted and unusable?

Of course this is a rough design and not to any scale. I have some better designs for the top, but I just wanted to get the basic idea out there. Anyone have experience with this type of design?

You should be able to put both fresnels on the light side being there will be no keystoning. That should give you a much better picture.
I don't see why this design wouldn't work. It looks doable. I would think you would need to put the mirror at a stationary 45 degree to prevent from using keystoning of some sort. The projected image would have to be directly in front of your mirror on center of screen.

if you wanted a smaller design you could put the triplet lens after the mirror in. in other words, fold the inage coming from the fresnals and place the triplet on the from of the box, it will allow for a shorter design

Your right that it's not a true folded design and it would be shorter, but I plan to have the project to behind the coach. I'm trying to design a projector that is visually interesting, so height isn't a issue, but quality of the projected image is.

well this is the exact setup i am running with 2 330mm fresnals and my 3M 9700 OHP triplet lens and it works great, so go for it

I am thinking to try a folded design too and i want to clarify some things.
First can an adjustable mirror be used like a keystoning mechanism?
Second is it true that putting both fresnels together on the light side results in better quality?

for the mirror, if it's after the triplet lens it can do some keystoning...
as for the fresnals being together or seperate, mine are together in my projector at the moment and the quality is great, but i haven't tried apart....some people say one way, some say another, it's kind of trail and error
