I just has some one look at the M1000bx/u/lu lamp it has an 80mm arc tube. I caledEYE and she said it is indeed 80mm. the web listing is wrong! so the venture 875 watt lamp is still a beter lamp.

The Pro lens is here and that means for most people they will have a extera 330mm fresnel. I say why not use it with a new light setup.

This the same thing as the 1000 watt post just with different parts. I found a better lamp to use that has a 42mm arc length what this means is that with a 330mm rear fresnel all the arc will now fit in the pro lens with no waste. Hear is the link to the specs.[EDIT the lamp has an 80mm arc}

and a source for the lamp.[edit wrong arc]

The ballast is a venture from the same place.

My oringnal Idea was to run a 1000 watt lamp and a 330mm rear fresnel a long time ago that is why I have a 550mm fresnel and a 330mm fresnel from 3dlenes but I still think I can get more light from a elliptical system. but if you want to try a high LUX system with a 330mm fresnel someone might give these lamps a try.

If you use a 330mm/650mm fresnel then what is the largest arc that will work for the pro lens and fit in the triplet?

Most peole will have around a 575mm front fl so the back can be a little long So let's cal the back 340mm

340/575=.591 .591 X 1000mm= 59mm arc not too far from 80mm so maybe a 1k might not be too bad

Venture does have this 875 watt one with a 71mm arc

And they list this 750 watt one too with an 50mm arc I would call and make sure the arc is realy 50mm

any takers?

The only thing with this lamp is the reflector will have to have a longer fl so part of a large bowl may work.

Well will any one be first????

why wouldn't this work with a standard triplet, standard fresnels which has a clear diameter of 62mm? isn't the arc magnification about 1.5(330/220)? so = ~60mm?

that spectrum looks like it would have a fairly orange cast to the bulb though...

It would work with the 62mm triplet. I like the idea of a slightly longer fresnel to help keep things cool. The pro lens craze is just starting but it would work for both. It might work with a 220mm rear fresnel because the 650mm front fresnel is a little long so you have some play.

All I can say to you is "DO IT" when I first came to these forums I expressed my opinions about using higher wattage lamps, I was shut down by almost everyone, except you. You said it could be done, and now that a solution is in hand I say you take it by the throat and choke it to death. I think you should be first to try it, I would steal the plan, if I weren't broke.

That's the funny thing about people eh? They try to stop others from trying, I don't know why that is... I've experienced it too here.

Yes, I have spent a fortune and perhaps I should be stopped.. I envision a straight jacket and feelings of rage as I am incarcerated never to see LumenLab forums again. LOL On a serious note, most of the stuff I have bought can be liquidated at cost, I am only out the shipping which I can look at as a rental fee for experimenting. Ok, not everything can be sold, but I think a good chunk can be.

I agree with Litherish.I haven't been a member long and as soon as I mentioned "1000w",I got the third degree.I don't know much about projection so I felt very intimidated. You and Arizonavideo has been very helpful since I have been on the forums and seems to have a very good attitude towards trying new things.Kudos to you and arizonavideo!I wish everyone on the forum would stay so openminded. :)It's ALL good! biggrin.gif
