I have descided to make a Small form projector enclosure to be used for small lcd's this can be used with the Lilliput, Hami, Car Lcd's, PSOne or others buy simply changing out the lcd and fresnel holders if lcd is larger than mine, or adding proper lcd covers to match your lcd if smaller.
Here are pictures of the concept (descided to go with straight design from lcd to projection lens for two reasons, 1. Better and sharper image and 2. so no 1st surface mirror is needed).
Parts I have so far in the picture is LCD i got from another member here (the image you see reflecting on the lcd is the wall texture (I removed the AG Already), condenser lens from Surplusshed, temp glass from shop light, I also will use the light from my simple 7" projector (OHP bulb) easy to replace and cheap.
You can also see the LCD sled and Condenser Holder I cut on the CNC Machine, which most parts will be cut. I want to provide a simple enclosure for other who do not have the resourses to make their own and yet want to build a small projector.

wanted to bench test my setup to double check my math with the focal lengths, everything is exactly how I drew it out. So now i can continue and make the enclosure. (it will be a cross breed from the standard box and the Hass Style.

the kit im not sure yet, maybe around 50-60 I still need to work out all the parts, i have just started to build the projector, but so far it is comming along just as planned.
I have not tested enough to know best screen size, and depending on lcd used will depend on how big you want to take it (i.e. resolution)

You can count on an order here!
I will be a good lumen lab-rat .
Im still using my trusty 8.9" 1024x600 lvds panel. I removed the AG, and I have a feeling your enclosre will do it serious justice.
I will PM you with a request as soon as you give the green light in this thread.
Keep up the tremendous work!
PS, Just out of curiosity, what kind of panel are you using in these pics? Looks nice...

If you can believe it it is an old Nview projection panel, specs say its a 640x480, but I do not think it is that because the picture is alot better than an old GE 640x480 LCD projector i have. it is giving a real good picture.

Joe I like the simplicity, I think I will incorporate some of that into my next project.

Joe, if you are trying to get the sharpest image why are you putting a fresnel in the image path? Or would you argue that putting fresnel in the image path does not degrade the image sharpness?
The only real negative I find putting both fresnels behind the lcd is the lcd is harder to keep cool especially in the center where the fresnel throws more light now. Luckily it looks fine on the screen for eveness.

Just thought I would check on this. I certainly do not have the expertise on building anything like this, though I might try some day. I would love a small PJ I can use for movies (for daughters especially) and this seems like the perfect fit for me. Any progress or timelines for these Kits. I would love one that didnt require a ton of work to finish.

Is that a halogen light your using? If so, do you have any heat issues?

After making the MiniHaas case for Yoshuaspawn's projector
http://www.lumenlab.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=10472&hl=I think i'm just going to use that for mine also, after cutting it and holding up the side pieces it does not look big at all.

Joe, do you think you could post your results on this project? Also, if it's not too much to ask, could you email me a price for panel sled and case. I have the exact same panel. Thanks

Hello Mydiazclan,
Just an FYI in case Joe hasnt already mentioned it to you, he did not make the sled for me.
I used the frame from the LCD and threaded rods for my lens carrier.

that is correct, I am going to redesign (or resize) it to fit the Mini-Haas, I think this will give the best results and best image with the straight light path.

Great work Joe I like the way your plans are coming along and Yoshi's own came out great as well. I have similar plans for my second build using the leftover parts from my ohp projector. I won a NVIEW Spectra C same res 640X480 less colors though but its mainly for DVD's and TV. I want to build a horizontal this time like the mini hass but I think I will go with a bulb Brain mentioned earlier a 250 watt 120 volt mr16 bulb from topbulbs.com
350watt bulb I already have a precondenser lense and the old wiring from my OHP it can handle a 300 watt bulb and a 400 watt bulb. I hope your build comes out ok as I will be looking to you for help

Actually I was going to be working on a projector for a convention and a mini-haas would rock. Are you close to getting a kit together? I am thinking about using a PSOne screen for now then getting a Lilliput later.
Thanks.
