Hey there, I purchased my LCD w/out a power supply sad.gif I've looked everywhere in town and still can't seem to come up with one, I was curious to know if anyone knew if a 12v Powersupply from Radioshack would work for a Dell 1702FP, thanks!

Most likely not. It only puts out around 500ma and I think an LCD even without the backlight would need 1.5 -2A

arg, this sucks, i'm probably going to have to order the original online huh?
Phife
yep.. your pretty much gonna have to get the actual plug for that monitor..

Ebay sometimes has them..

Easiest way to find one online is to get the part # for the power adapter and type that into google.

If you dont know what the part # is then check websites like laptopuniverse.com or partstore.com for the adapters

sigh, alrighty, just bought one off of ebay for 30 bucks, it'll probably be here next week god hoping, I guess that just gives me more and more time to tweak lol

I guess its also alot safer then risking burning out that LCD, plus i'll be able to wire it up alot easier, thanks guys!

if its 12v then you could have just gotten the right plug from RS then solder the 12v from a PC PSU to it and you would have a working PS. it would have pleanty of amps for the monitor, plus fans, etc.

lol not near smart enough to do that, I figure this route is safter, and I dont have a spare PC PSU laying around anymore, It sucks, but with my skills I think purchasing one was a little safer.

I'll wire socket up or something so that when the Projector kicks on so will the socket to the LCD

ya thats how i have mine.. i use one LL DPDT switch w/ plug passthrough, and one spst light switch.

DPDT turns on/off fan, and a 3.5v RS adapter for focus motor and Power LEDs.

SPST turns on/off, Ballast and LCD Power adapter.

I can post a pic of my wiring diagram if you wanna see it.

That would actually be really helpful to me and possibly other people! since I won't have my power supply for a few days it'll force me not to rush things, but everything is comming along fantastic.

I got my tax refund, so I'll be purchasing a screen soon, I hope that we can get alot of gamers united for DIY Projects, alot of people seem to want to see how its going to turn out, and I'm going to have hoping in the 100's of screens for people, and Once I get my Website finished up you can bet Lumenlab's link will be on there.
