Hello there, Right now I have my LCD Completely dismanteled and the FFC extension, but upon inspection today I realized there is a Solid Black piece on the back side of the LCD that won't allow any light to go through, i've read a few teardown guides and haven't seen anyone run into this problem.

What the heck is it? and How do I take it off?

Hmmmm, If it truly didn't let any light through then the backlight wouldn't work?? I'll ask a dumb question.....Have you tried shining a very bright light through it?

Are you sure it isn't just the AG polarizer, all LCDs look black when turned off, does it look any different than that?
ChristmasGT
I shined a lazer through it, it was very very dim, but it did go through.

Then I held it up to a light blub (not very bright) and I could see the bulbs but not very much, So maybe it is just the AG Polarizer, but man thats crazy dark

go easy on those ffc's In the picture you look to be putting a ton of stress on them. People here are soo rough on these monitors.
ChristmasGT
Actually the bottom ffc's are laying on bubble wrap, the only ones i'm rather concerned about are the ones on the sides, I've been sooooo delicate with it smile.gif

lol I've heard about how flimsy they are
Cold Steel
Thats part of the lcd. When you power up the lcd the light will go through it easy. There is an AG surface on the lcd. If you put a scratch on it it will show on your screen. Put it in your sled and
TAKE CARE OF THE FFC CABLES!!!!!!
One small crack in one of the thousand flat wires and you'll have streaks on your screen.

Did your lcd have the 1/2 inch black plastic surrounding the lcd which held the side FFC circuit board? If so you should have left them for mounting.
ChristmasGT
yes, and actually I still have them smile.gif I'll take your suggestion cold and put it back in its bracket for mounting smile.gif

~edit
Okay, shes back in her very safe Sled, I take it i'm going to have to modify the overhang on the white plastic, any idea how?
