Hi everybody,
Before I purchase a LCD panel, I would like to know if I can do something good with one I had in an old laptop. It is a 14.1 inches and the resolution is 1024x768 so I think it worth trying it. Here's some pictures of it. I have 2 questions;
1. 1 pcb is connected directly behind the panel. Can I find a wiring with the male/female connector to move it out of the way ?
2. Since it comes from a laptop, the only input is through 1 small pcb connected to the laptop's motherboard. Can I do something with that ?
Many many thanks in advance for any help

I suggest you invest some time, no, a LOT of time and read thru these forums. they trully will answer most, if not all, of your questions ahead of time.
The short answer - NO
The long answer, yes, just depends on how deep your pocketbook goes - you need a special controller matched to that specific LCD, which will be VERY expensive - not worth it

Hey,
I have a 14.1in lcd from an old laptop as well and still havent found a use fo it yet.
The reason you cannot use a laptops lcd is its input is 100% digital, not dvi digital but an older style proprietary to manufactuer one. If you had an old pci/agp card with 26pin hirose you would be able to hook it up but you would spend weeks trying to fine tune linux to use it.
This is the method i am using and currently i can somwhat dump a buffer onto it, pretty much useless and ive been working on it for months.
Best bet is to sell that lcd on ebay and buy an lcd with a busted backlight or a referbished one like i just did!
Hopefully that info helps.
