Welcome to indonesia...great to see the whole world in on a project like this....Yes your right to tell yourself to "be patient" and read as much as possible. Most of my mistakes and of others seem to be when we go too fast.
Good Luck! rolleyes.gif

Ditto on Capt. Video's post, take your time! Good luck and we will all be here if you need us!!

Now THAT was fast shipping considering your location! ohmy.gif

Yes, just 4 days , very fast and good services by LL and usps. It's the 1st LL lens kit in my country.
I believe not all of you know where my country is on the map laugh.gif
The box is broken and wet, but everything inside it is O.K.

LG 1550s

Ths monitor is cheaper ($50 less) than 510N, and it has 16 ms respons time.
Does this monitor have LLC issue?

Nice tear down pics. smile.gif Did you test the panel after you pulled it apart? What about the cable tear? did that affect it or can you replace it?

Keep updates of the volcanoe. Must be a little scary being soooo close. ohmy.gif

I tested the panel, and It works.

After that I did the antiglare removal, and peel the front and rear film.
And something that I didn't want to happen was become a realty. I lost my polarizer... laugh.gif

Now I should replace the polarizers with the new ones....

Since I'm a student with part time job, It's not easy to get the money soon, save money will be my solution.
Or some one could give me some jobs to me,.... I need them, smile.gif (I mean the money...) rolleyes.gif

Nice PJ!

I'm using the same LG 1550s LCD monitor, today I'll try to go forward. I'm trying to do a vertical pj due to space (She says it needs to combine with the living room ;-) hehehe)

I just wanted to now how you glued the LCD panel to the original metal frame that comes with the monitor?

Thanks in advance
and good luck!

I glued with silicon glue except on ffc.

I need some suggestion why the contrast is so bad. The black colour is not black enough but it is grey although in the dark room

Is this because of the lens arrangement or the LCD panel it self. Or my polarizer replacement angle was not exactly 45 degree ?
triast
Oke, I adjusted the polarizers, and it is much better. But still not satisfy. I won't give up. I will replace all the polarizer (again).

I read this artickel : (http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/other/display/lcd-guide_7.html)

"The contrast-related problems are natural for LCD matrices due to the very principle of their operation. Unlike with the absolute majority of electronic display devices (CRT, electroluminescent and LED displays, OLED and so on), the LCD matrix is a passive rather than active element. It can’t radiate light; it can only modulate the light that is passing through it. There’s a backlight unit behind the LCD matrix, while the matrix only controls its own opacity, weakening the light to a certain extent. It achieves this by turning the polarization plane: the liquid crystals are placed between two co-directional polarizers.

So if the light hasn’t changed its polarization plane between them, it goes through the second polarizer without any losses. But if the polarization plane has been turned by the liquid crystals, the second polarizer will stop the light stream and the corresponding cell will look black. But due to various reasons (the polarizers are not perfect, and the crystals cannot be perfectly positioned, too) it is impossible to stop all the light, so some portion of the backlight will pass through the matrix, highlighting slightly the black color of the monitor."

Ok, I will turn the polarizer to get deep black....
triast
I did the polarizer replacement again.

1. Threw away the current polarizer

2. make sure the panel is free from dust. I place the new polarizer on the panel, put a light under the panel and turn on the panel, rotate it until get the right color and deepest dark.

3. Remove the adhesive glue protection and at the same time squeeze with a ruler/rubber. My left hand was squeezing with a ruler and my right hand pulling the adhesive glue palstic protection. Do it slowly. Use rubber glove.

4. finished, If your panel is free from dust, there will be no buble. Buble with no dust inside it will very easy to removed, just use a rubber or ruler for squeezing on the buble. The buble will be gone.

5. Cut the edge with a cutter knife

triast
I compared the result:

1. the white wall screen which I used

2. With old polarizer

3. with new polarizer

4. new polarizer and AG removed

triast
MOre comparison

1. before AG removed

2. After AG removed

more results (no reflector)

1. my login screen, the grain noise is because of the camera there is no grain noise in the actual condition.

triast,

way to go buddy.

I know that in that part of the world equipments, tools and stores to buy stuff are not as easily available as in USA and it is way expensive than the US.

But you have very good results so enjoy your pj and forget the rest.

Nice Triast,
Your doing a great job on your pj.

Dont get too close to that volcano man! ohmy.gif

Must be both scary and beautiful to watch though huh?

Triast, i now you sell polarized films. Can you give me a basic explain of what is that, i mean ...is it really necessery to the pj? Thank you.

As I know, there are 2 thin film layer on lcd panel. First is antiglare film and 2nd is polarizer film. To increase the color and brighnest, I removed the antiglare film. Please see the comparison on page 2 of my plog.
But accidenta;ly I also removed the polarizer film, so there was no image on my panel.
Please read more about antiglare removing in extreme mod topic.

thx
rivenchy
Thanks for the explanation Triast. I didn t understood you had removed the polarizer by acident. There is a big image diference with and without the antiglare but many people just make the Pj with the intire lcd i mean, with the AG dont you think? By the way, is it dificult or risky to remove it? I ask it because i want also the best performance but once you had that accident, i m afraid that happens the same to me. Many thanks for your atencion.
