Hey everyone, I got my bulb working, And I have a few questions.

After getting the bulb started I let it go and do its thing until it hits full brightness then I unplug it, about 5 minutes later I plug it back in and it starts out rather dim, then goes through a few phases and reaches full brightness.

20 Minutes later It starts of really really dim (dim purple?) and i thought it was dead, but it started going back to full brightness again (quicker though)

Is this normal? I'm positive all of my wiring is correct, I have a mogul from ACE hardware that has an on and off switch, could it be something to do w/ the mogul?

?????

These lamps arent like a light bulb in your house. They have warm up times and restrike times.

It takes a period of time before they reach full brightness. If you cut power to them after theyve warmed up, then you have to wait for them to cool off, then warm up again.

It sounds like its working fine.

Oh awesome awesome, Thanks for the reassurance, I was thinking something like that, but I'm glad I asked just to make sure, this thing is CRAZY bright! I'll probably try to do my wiring for the 3 prong tommorrow.

Then Again, I may just keep it the way it is, and toss A switch in or something, Right now I have it running straight to an outlet in the wall w/out the PC 3 Prong

UPDATE~

I wanted to try to wire it again w/ the 3 prong, so I wired it up and VIOLA! it works! but the LED on the switch doesn't work for some reason, kinda makes me angry, but I think what was giving me such a hard time is the mogul base that i got from westlake had a little socket that you turn off and on (like a lamp switch) and I had to screw it on, lol sooo stupid! I'm going to have to put the light at an angle in the box since it's a little too long w/ the mogul I chose, should this be okay? the arc will be dead center, but at an angle this shouldn't mess w/ the lighting too much should it?

The angle is fine, as long as the arc is dead center.

These bulbs I believe are all HOR +-90 degrees, so a 45 degree angle should be fine.

as for the LED not lighting on your switch, there is a diagram included. The switch will have 3 connectors, read the diagram included that will show you how to connect it for the light to show up. I use lighted switches on outboard power supply case I built
