Hi,

While I was on the webpage http://www.hardwarezone.com/articles/view.php?cid=20&id=1793 I saw Silverstone LaScala LC18 HTPC. In the article it sais that the case includes a 7" display capable of viewing content with the resolution 1600 x 1024....!!! I believe this display is perfect to use in a DIY projector. Small display with really high resolution. In many case much better than commercial projectors!!!

Look at Silverstone's website http://www.silverstonetek.com/products-lc18.htm

"Integrated 7” touch screen panel...

...

Screen size 7” (117.8mm) 16 x 10 aspect ratio
Resolution 640 x 480 ~ 1600 x 1024
Video input D-Sub (VGA)

...

LC18 screen supports the following VESA standard resolutions at 60Hz:

1600 x 1024 1600 x 900
1360 x 768 1360 x 1024
1280 x 1024 1280 x 960 1280 x 768 1280 x 720
1152 x 864 1152 x 720
1024 x 768
960 x 600
848 x 480
800 x 600
640 x 480
"

...I don't know the response time, but if it is under 16 ms, I think the display is PERFECT !!

If anyone knows anything more about this display, manufacturer, model etc. please let me/us know!

I rather doubt that screen has a native resolution higher than 640x480.
After all, it's only a touch-screen.

I don't know if you know, but a touch-screen is a LCD display with an extra glass over it which "feels" where one places its finger. If one don't want the touchpanel, one can very simply remove it from the display. It isn't glued to the display or anything like that. One actually never touches the LCD glass, only the touch glass.

I called Silverstone's office in Hamburg today and asked about the native resolution of the display. The person I talked with said that the native resolution was 800 x 600. So, if you try to use the resolution 1600 x 1024 the display will downscale it to 800 x 600. Too bad...

Now I have made a call from Sweden to Hamburg unnecessarily. sad.gif

I will continue to use my 8.4" XGA display then...
