Hey all. I'm setting up a cheapie slide projector + 2.5" LCD PJ at my gf's place this weekend, and I'm going to want to run the composite video out from the DVD player across the room to the PJ, which will be a distance of 15-20 feet.

I'm thinking I might try just splicing a length of heavy speaker wire or lamp cord with the RCA connectors at each end, but I'm concerned about degrading the signal. Should I be worried? Is there a better way to do this? Is there some kind of signal booster type dealie that I can use, or should I just not stress about it over this kind of length?

Thanks,

Thanks,

there is a good cheap way to do it.

Go to home depot, walmart or the like, and buy some RG6 Coaxial cable. Its sheilded.

You may already have one of these cables long enough around the house.

Then you can go to radio shack and by F to RCA converters.

This will convert the screw on coaxial lead (Which is known as an "F" connector) to an RCA. Put one on each end, and you now have a long sheilded RCA cable.

I did this numerous times for clients and it always worked out well.

You can also check out Monoprice. They sell 25' RCA cables for around $7 (I've got one running into mine... their cables are great for the price).

RG6 is pretty big isn't it wouldn't some RG-58 be cheaper and smaller???

RG6 is recomended for the same reasons RG6 is recomended for long coaxial runs
