New monitor by Sharp does 3D,

Has anyone put this into a projector?

* 15-inch TFT 3D LCD Module
* XGA resolution (1024 x 768)
* Brightness of 370 cd/m2 (2D mode)/ 140 cd/m2 (3D mode)
* 500:1 contrast ratio
* 25ms response time
* Viewing angles of 130° horizontal and 115°vertical
* Integrated stereo speakers
* DVI-I video PC input and 3.5mm stereo audio jack

I forget the details, but that will not work as a 3D projector.

I agree with lucky.

I just read the details…it's a clever system, but designed for a 15" panel size and a central viewing position. The design assumption is that there is a 2-1/2 inch separation distance (on average) between the human eyes. The parallax layer is setup so that the right eye image and the left eye image are separated by the same distance - based on a correct viewing position.

If you magnify the picture by projection, you'll also magnify this separation distance. So I can't see how it would work - unless you have an extremely big head with a large inter-pupil distance laugh.gif

Would you be referring to the 3d glasses on that site?

Yeah they're shutter glasses. It works by synchronized flipping of the left and right eye image, and opening and closing the glasses. Usually those things require really high refresh rates but these were made to also work with lcd's. I emailed them about it and they said an lcd with at least 70 hz is enough. So 16 ms response time should be enough. But not 25 ms.

I had a pair of these, I sold them last year, wish I didn't now, it would be cool to play games on a 10' screen with 3d.

Im a bit sceptical about a 16ms LCD working with shuter glases....

I have a pair of shutter glases and tried 16ms tft's some time back... the result was not very confortable in my case. I heard of people doing shutter 3D projection with DLP projectors, they might be faster than LCD....

Perhaps, but supposedly the edimensional glasses are made to work with lcds. As far as I've seen, regular shutter glasses are not. So naturally it didn't work for you. (unless those were edimensional glasses)

None active glasses works with any LCd (neither 5ms, is too slow LCD black refresh) actually.
For 3D needed stereo proyector (two proyector 1 for each eyes)
