any ideas appreciated,
already fried a benq 567, because of this went down a notch to a 250watt bulb.

set up.
standard box, followed LL instructions, ikea reflector, sylvania double ended 250watt bulb, aluminium heat shield, tempered glass sealed, sealed lcd, slot in lid 12mm, 2 evercool fans, i thought the more the better.
nothing in way of air flow, ballast etc in seperate box, don't know exactly how hot it gets, i shut it down when the temp gets to 110F. the only thing i can think of is the small gap at the bottom were the sled sits on the drawer runners, but i guess most builds are the same, how else would the sled move, i'm stumped, any ideas, oh and i've done a search.
thank's

Have you got a picture or a drawing showing your air flow?

sorry old dinosaur with computers, but the airflow is the original LL design, sealed from lcd towards triplet 12mm slot in lid, 15mm clearance at bottom for airflow under sealed 4mm tempered glass, approx 8" to lamp ikea reflector mounted on aluminium panel 1" clearance at bottom approx 3" to back of box houses ballast etc , nothing in way of airflow, 2 evercool fans at bottom rear of box installed upside down.
basically the airflow comes in the slot in lid under 15mm gap and straight out the fans at rear. fans appear to be working fine.
thank's for your help.

Are you sure that the benq was killed by heat?

while i tinkered with benq trying to fix i guess the temp went to high once to often, tv engineer confirmed panel overheated, using samsung this time.

Are you getting decent airflow exhausting from your fans? Compare the volume of exhaust when lid is on and off.

a pic of your set up would really help. are you pulling cool air IN to the pj and exhausting hot air OUT? DT is right, check the airflow with the top off and compare with the top on, small air leaks can raise the temps 10 degrees or more, after I sealed a few leaks in PJ1 the temp dropped 10 degrees!

How large is the gap below the sled? Sounds like the airflow may be getting messed up by this small leak. A picture would be great. You might want to try a little weatherstripping in that gap just to see if it helps.

I use a 250 watt ED28 bulb and half the time when I'm messing with it I don't even have the fan(92mm pc fan) on...and I've run it for 6 hours with more air leaks than you can imagine(the fan isn't sealed, the top isn't screwed on etc). and I don't have any kind of heat shield at all (running unsplit)... do different panels really vary that much in heat sensitivity? can you feel air coming in to the lcd area?

seem to have heat under control across panel 102f at centre dropping to 91f at sides. sealed everything including sled to stop air getting under small gap, no longer moves, but i suppose i can do any tweeking buy moving focus box or lamp.
appreciated everyones help,
