Hi,

Looking for a DIY, using a good resolution of 1280, and a distance of 4 -6 meters, celing mounted, would I be able to design a good project with the above specs, and do I need a 15 or 17'' screen ?

You would be looking at a 17" to get 1280x1024.

Can I also use a 15'', WUXGA ? or is the 17'' better ?

Any will work but a 4-6 meter throw is going to make for a very big image.

use the LL focal calc to figure out sizes.
Focal Calc
Run some numbers and see what works for you.
