Just caught this on another forum I frequent and I thought I'd share it"

Announcing New Technology: B.O.O.K.
Finally! A technology so simple even brilliant PhDs from well-known universities can use it! Announcing the new "Built-in Orderly Organized Knowledge" device (BOOK).
The BOOK is a revolutionary breakthrough in technology: no wires, no electric circuits, no batteries, nothing to be connected or switched on. It's so easy to use even a child can operate it. Just lift its cover! Compact and portable, it can be used anywhere -- even sitting in an armchair by the fire --yet it is powerful enough to hold as much information as a CD-ROM. Here's how it works...
Each BOOK is constructed of sequentially numbered sheets of paper (pages) recyclable), each sheet capable of holding thousands of bits of information. These pages are locked together with a custom-fit device called a binder, which keeps the sheets in their correct sequence. Opaque Paper Technology (OPT) allows manufacturers to use both sides of the sheet, doubling the information density and cutting costs in half.
Experts are divided on the prospects for further increases in information density; for now, BOOKs with more information simply use more sheets. This makes them thicker and harder to carry, and has drawn some criticism from the mobile crowd.
Each sheet is scanned optically, registering information directly into your brain. A flick of the finger takes you to the next sheet. The BOOK may be taken up at any time and used by merely opening it. The BOOK never crashes and never needs rebooting, though like other display devices it can become unusable if dropped overboard. The "browse" feature allows you to move instantly to any sheet, and move forward or backward as you wish. Many come with an "index" feature, which pinpoints the exact location of any selected information for instant retrieval.
An optional "BOOKmark" accessory allows you to open the BOOK to the exact place you left it in a previous session -- even if the BOOK has been closed. BOOKmarks fit universal design standards; thus, a single BOOKmark can be used in BOOKs by various manufacturers. Conversely, numerous bookmarkers can be used in a single BOOK if the user wants to store numerous views at once. Only the number of sheets
in the BOOK limits the number.
You can also make personal notes next to BOOK text entries with an optional programming tool, the Portable Erasable Nib Cryptic
Intercommunication Language Stylus (PENCILS).
Portable, durable, and affordable, the BOOK is being hailed as the entertainment and education wave of the future. The BOOK's appeal seems so certain that thousands of content creators have committed to the platform. Look for a flood of new titles soon.

would this be compatible with the PRO lens? I think with a small enough form factor we could get a really high resolution projection

I would be leery of getting a used one as it might have a virus.

I just ordered ten of them. Big money, but I think I might be the first one.
edit This is a knock off product. I've seen things just like this before..

And its amazing how resistant it is!
You can rip the case off and still manage to access the inside information pretty well... works even after you drop it into water... altough it is damage, information is there and intact! pretty amazing technology ;-)

I can't believe you are all so rabid about this concept. Newer isn't always better. There are a lot of cons to this BOOK technology.
It can take years for new users to complete the necessary training to be able to use them. There are numerous competing coding technologies and considerable additional training is necessary to enable users to access information written in other languages. Inexperienced users frequently produce data that is unreadable and even experienced users can have difficulty in generating new data with correct syntax. Automatic copy protection is almost non-existent and search functions are limited to the effort and foresight of the author. What about safety? The product is flammable! More than two or three BOOKs can be extremely heavy. I myself have sustained lumbar injuries when handling boxes of BOOKs from my personal LIBRARY.
Don't get me wrong, I believe in trying new things, but you guys are seeing this thing through rose-colored glasses.

copy protection is not neccessary, simply add a "royalty fee" to all copying methods(ie, writing instruments, paper to write on, audio devices(for those who try to bypass the writing method and try to voice record it...)
the main issue would be with users making their own "copies" and passing them around in a "book sharing network".... this would have to be vigorously prosecuted so as to channel users into legitimate methods of sharing(ie. revenue producing).....

I have heard rumors of book sharing networks springing up in certain states and cities coyly named "InterLibrary loaning". I hear that the NBAA ( National Book Association of America) is currently lobbying Congress and the House to give them their fair share of the booty they feel isnt being presented to them. Worse, they want to lock these "books" with special locks that can only be opened by writing to the publisher and then they send you a key, which only works once...
Others have gone a darker route and are lobbying for the ability to erase a book from our memory if it stays there too long. I heard that some have even suggested that reading be made illegal...
The unaware still watch TV...

You can even have multiple bookmarks in many places and still manage to find your way around pretty easily!

And Then They Created something really ugly with this new B.O.O.K.
impossible to use,,
impossible to find that one thing you want to find
an impossible indexing system
obviously created by somekind of commitee accountants (or techinical data scribers ) (( or also software programmers ))
extremely expensive to have your own entry
and even more expensive than the above point, if you wish to be seen first above the rest of the entries...
this useless B.O.O.K. is
