I've been looking to do this for quite some time now, but am so poor even for this, it's a tough decision. Anyhow, I have a few questions:

How loud are these generally? I'd like to have it in my bedroom, I use my computer for all my entertainment as it is. TV, Movies, Computer Games... smile.gif So I would like it to be relatively quiet.

The furthest away it would be from the wall is probably be 10-12 feet, is this enough?

I'd like to have it be able to display up to 1280x1024 resolution, I guess the mega-kit is out of the question if I'm wanting to keep costs to a minimum?

What connections am I able to have on here. I'd like to be able to hook up my Xbox and my computer. That's about all I need.

Does this add noticeably to the electricity bill? smile.gif Poor student you know...

Maybe finally, if I just went for the 15" Mega-kit in the store, what would I need to buy other than LCD and a box to put it in? Anything?

Thanks smile.gif

I'm sorry if there are simple answers to these questions somewhere, I am just too overwhelmed by all the numbers and parts and complexity.

1: About as loud as a typical computer.
2: Depending on your choice of lenses, if you go with the cheap lenses 10' is about the max distance you'll want.
3: Not sure what the megakit and the resolution have to do with each other. If you're trying to save money just deal with a 15" XGA.
4: You need the VGA adapter for the Xbox, that's it.
5: Electric bill, No, i doubt you'll notice it.
6: That's pretty much it. You'll neeed a piece of tempered glass or Lexan.

Well the Megakit is for 15" and it's expensive for one that does 1280, if they even have em?

So I'd want to get a 17" is why I said that.

Thanks for the answers!

You can make a 17" projector with the lenses in the megakit, but they work best with a 15".
