So I'm curious, has anyone stripped a laptop for its screen? I have seen misc mumblings about the Sharp WUXGA screen which is what is used in laptop displays, but I'm curious if anyone has just taken a laptop directly? I ask because I have a Dell laptop with a 14" 1600x1200 screen, if I could use that for a projector I would have all the resolution I would ever need almost (except pure HDTV, but this would still be pretty impressive). Better yet would be to buy a dead laptop for this purpose. In anycase I'm just curious.

Unfortunately, you can't use a laptop screen without the laptop itself, so it's pretty much useless. That Dell is an exception only because somebody built a custom controllor board for it. Sorry... sad.gif

Yeah, I've started digging into it, and it isn't looking possible, at least for a decent cost. I just wish someone would make a desktop LCD with the same pixels per inch as my laptop.
