I have an old-ish laptop with a 12.1", 1024x768 display. The small size would be nice, but since it's a laptop, there aren't exactly inputs to hook up.

How difficult is it to hack a VGA connector or the like onto a stripped down laptop display?

The laptop still works fine, but I don't want to tear it apart and ruin it unless there is a reasonable chance I can do this.

Thanks for any help!

You need a controller board compatable with the laptop display. This could be problematic, but possible.

The 12.1" size would be a good thing, for keeping the overall size of hte projecotr down a bit, as well as a slightly better throw.

A lot of laptop displays are pretty slow though. sad.gif

If the laptop has USB, then it may work well to put a USB capture device on, and use that (Though IIRC, USB2.0 is required to get smooth video.)

I put serious consideration into using an older (P3 generation) laptop and using the DVD drive as the basis for a projector. In the end, though, even the old laptops are too expensive.
