The time has come!

I have been getting parts etc for the last 3 months.

So far I have sourced:

1. 15" lcd - Diamond View DV154 16ms - $170 - Ross's Auctions
2. Fresnals, triplet - Lumenlabs standard
3. Wood - Bunnings - approx $30
4. 4mm Tempered glass - $30 Balcatta Glass
5. Paint, wood glue, black tape, etc - Approx $80
6. Ballast & Ignitor - $60 - From a friend in a lighting retailer

All I need now is some wiring stuff and the bulb. This will be my weakest area as I have no idea what I am doing. I have an Osram ballast with the following details:

Code- No 500193
or metal halide lamp with PZI 1000 ignitor
MI-400/3,40A/ (funny 2 symbol)0,53/tw130/(triangle)t85
P.0,9 USE 30uf
acc.to AS 1468/1974

What the hell does all that mean? Can I use any bulb or am I restricted?

I have bulit most of the box to size and spray painted the inside black. I have used nails to slide the lcd and fresnals with small wood blocks to keep them at the right height. I tried frames but my woodworking skills are below par so gave up. I put some masking tape over the nails to avoid scratching. Just hope it all lines up in the end.

When my camera batteries are recharged I will take a few photos of what I have done so far.

Next is to cut some holes in the box for power cables, VGA cable, lcd control board and the fan. I also need to cut a top for the box and drill a hole in the front for the triplet.

Hopefully will finish by Christmas as all of my friends don't believe me when I say I am building a projector. I run a Squash Centre so am going to have a showing on the front wall of a court!!!

Pics will follow so stay tuned.
