We used to have a three-legged possum living under a big rock about thirty feet from our kitchen door. It'd come out at night and dig into the compost pile and snitch any leftover birdseed that had fallen to the ground. I have a movie of it somewhere. Figure it must've lost one leg in a trap. Had a dog blunder into a trap once. All okay in the end. It's the rabid racoons that drive me nuts.

We have a family of porcupines that like to come over and chew the sides of our shed. The glue that they make T-10 out of is quite yummy to them...
You can always tell when they have had "Dinner Out". Our deep grey shed, with fresh brown wood bites out of it...

We have that trouble too. I once went to the local farm store (Agway) and asked if they had anything to put on wood siding to prevent animals from chewing on it. They gave me this look

and said they'd never heard of such a thing as animals chewing siding.

No and that is really a point of confusion for me since I fully expected the red salts.
So, I'm always confused anyway and perhaps I just don't truly understand what this bulb REALLY is.
I was kinda wonderin' who'd pick up on that.

Fired the DE with my M135 last night. Fired immediately and ran stable. I'm unclear on the precise feeding requirements of this lamp though.
Already working on getting my pre-con installed and getting back on track with my build.
I will mention two things I noticed:
- The M135 seemed much noisier running this bulb compared to the Ushio T15 PS (no longer sold here).
- This bulb really created an odor I would call ozone-like. I always use sunglasses or a welding helmet whenever I might expose my eyes to the unshielded lamp emissions and my eyes were irritated by this lamp somewhat when compared to the T15 PS. Just something I wanted to note but I don't think it's gonna be a problem in the long-term. Time will tell . . .

A Bausch & Lomb Spectra Projection Kit.

Pretty much simply a diffraction grating of 600 grooves/mm.
Unless I find one of the other self-contained gizmos we have/had I'll make do with this.

Jerked the T15 PS outta my lightbox last night and came up with a quickie mount for the new DE.
I'll bolt the sucker to the side of my lightbox on a couple of pieces of tubing which will allow for some adjustability.
Got my condenser holder figured out as well. Maybe today I'll cut that out.

Thanks for the compliment. Initially I wanted the redundancy of two fans but later thought it might be nicer to blast the back of the pro-reflector to keep it cooler. Plus, the reflector would act as a nice deflector to direct the cooling air around the bulb and not directly on it. We'll see how this really pans out in the end. I'm contemplating a little overclocking of the lamp so I'll have to play it by ear as far as how hard I drive the dual fans. Just hooking 'em in series instead of in parallel dramatically lessens their noise. Thanks again Sim.

Working on pre-condensor lens mount. Made a template then transferred reference points with a punch to a sheet of metal. Cut it out with a bandsaw and nibblers and now I've got a mount. I'll "hang" it off 3 or 4 screws going through some L-brackets fastened to the sides of my lightbox to make it adjustable.

Thanks. I was really happy with this when I thought it up. I think it's very elegant. Simple and elegant.
Nibblers rock. They are slow though.

Not really all that bad for one-offs.
I keep bugging my brother-in-law to buy a CNC plasma cutter and go into business making lightboxes for Lumenlab on the side.
Yes, 3 and 3 tabs. Three points form a plane. One of my favorite sayings. I neglected to spell that out in my very terse description.
Hope it works okay. See no reason it won't.
I purposefully put some fingerprints on the condenser but they don't show well.

Nibblers are the best thing since sliced bread.
DC that a sweet looking mount. Are you planning on holding the lens down with something off the three upright tabs or are you thinking of letting gravity do the job? Or maybe just bend the tabs over slightly? Just wondering about moving the thing when its done...

I mulled it over and finally decided if gravity fails then I likely won't be watching my projector anymore. I may have a change of heart but I think it'll be fine. The lightbox should never experience any harsh movements. (Famous last words?)

"The spread BOSS, the spread.... is much better!" But really, depending on the focal of your precondenser to be used with the 220mm fresnel. I've tried with a 12"fl precon and 220mm fres and preferred the 6.5"fl precon with the 317mm or 330mm fres. Arizonavideo did find a 9"fl precond seems to work well with the 220mm fres. It's really a matter of personal preference but the 220mm setup should give you more lumens because the light source will be closer to the fres.
Now, with regards to the mothballs and snakes, wouldn't it be easier and more effective shooting them with a .22 cal then throwing mothballs at them or did you DIY a potato gun for this?...............JUST KIDDING!!!!
