Hi there!,

This is my first time here and I wanted to build the 15" diy projector. I studied photography and have some little optical skills. So I considered the possibility of replacing the normal projection lenses for the ones used in photography this way I could have more sharpness and control of the light. I also think that I might use the focus ring to focus the image even more and also maybe i could use the zoom lenses in order to change the projection size and later correcting the focus by using the focus ring. What do you all think?

Thanks a lot!!

If I`m not mistaking there is someone who used a photocamera lens to create a beamer, it should work fine.
check the projects section

I just got my hands on a photo beamer kinda thing. It belonged to my grandpa who used it to show photographs on the wall. You could change them one by one. So now i`m trying to convert this baby to a video beamer, should be a nice challenge hehe

A camera lens as the only lens is tricky. Since the camera lens typically only has a field of view big enough fot the film, there's not many that take film 12" by 9" in size. As such, photographic lenses are most likely not applicable.

It may be possible to use a zoom lens to extent the throw of the projector, if you can get one large enough to take the output from the regular triplet. Such a thing is quite complicated, though.
