I have this strange light pattern when an image is projected and not sure what I need to tweak in order for it to go away. I have attatched a picture, anyone have a suggestion?
Thanks

In my setup, these light blotches were caused by reflections on the front fresnel. Light was being reflected off the FFcs and LCD circuit boards and hitting the fresnel twice. I covered up the offending hardware with balck construction paper and it completely eliminated those blotches.

Another alternative that worked for me was to move the front fresnel farther away from the LCD, but I didn't want to decrease the captured light, so I stuck with option A.

did the blotches look just like mine, or were they in different spots? I never would have thought the ffc cables would be reflecting light and causing this problem. I will try covering them.
Thanks

Exactly the same problem here...
Tried split and unsplit fresnels, no difference
I suspect it may be something to do with the edges of the lcd, or the edges of the lenses??

Catfish,,

if you can, try reversing your panel,,, I would be very interested to see if your strange glowies go away,, it would answer a question related to Antiglare removal techniques,,,

I am not sure,, but I am wondering if your panel is showing wierd effects thru polarizer layers..

after my work with removal of antiglare/polarizer removal,, I had similar glowies on screen,, but have since solved it..

well, found out what my problem is. I covered the fcc's as suggested, didnt help, and rechecked the alignment of everything, looked good. I removed my reflector and the weird light patterns went away. In fact, I think my picture looks better than it ever has. The colors and detail seem to stand out more. I also dont really notice a decrease in brightness. In fact, my dark scenes and really bright scenes(outdoors) seem to look alot better.

I am not sure but, I think it has something to do with polarization, cancelling effects

a reflector polarizes light, to a degree, and maybe the qaulity, or variances cause these funny patterns,, i observed this effect after A/G enhancement,

Elken, is this how you fixed your 'glowies'?

Just removed my reflector, but am still seeing this effect.
Black levels have gone down considerably more than the whites though according to luxmeter, so contrast has gone up
(roughly 50% more contrast and 30% less lux)

are you using split or unsplit optics,,?
MichaelJ
split

am wondering: could the ~50% contrast drecrease (with reflector) somehow be caused by something happening to the ~50 % of the light that is reflected? ie could this tie in with your polariser idea?
elken2004
ok,, if you somehow can try unsplit,, even as a test, I am curious to see if it is the polarizers on panel,,,, ohhh did you state what brand of panel you have?

ummm went over posts,, you did use unsplit,, hmmmmm
