Ive read that if you have the projector beghind you with a standered lens, it wont work

what about if it is right next to my chair?

keep in mind this is a vertical projector.

Here is a crude 3d drawing of my room, everything is to exact scale,

the blue this would be the projector tongue.gif

personally, it depends on your preference, more than anything.
where do you like to sit in a theatre?
I'd say, that if you are looking at using chairs, vs a couch, that this would work perfectly!!!
Me personally, i prefer to have a little bit larger ratio of distance to size - almost like 2:1
but that's just me!!!!
Looks great, otherwise. - what program did you use to draw this???

I agree with the 2:1 ratio. Your eyes will be chasing the screen sitting right next to the pj, not to mention you get to hear all the wonderful sounds coming from the fan. IMHO the best way to have it setup would be on the floor in front of you at an upward angle with some keystoning. I dont know how many people can sit right next to the pj and watch a movie comfortably. It drove me insane and thats the #1 reason why I am getting the pro lenses and moving that puppy back a few.

well, my offer would be to make two rows - one then way you have it set up now, and then another behind it - of a couch - like another user here did - crap, can't think of the user now, but he liked it - IF you have enuf room for it!!!

I've got the PJ next to me in my dorm room. 7ft from the screen. I think I'm just used to the massiveness of the screen at this point.

yea i know what you mean, with the setup this way, ill be looking at about a 10 ft screen, which is way o big, i think i might move chairs, projector, and table, foward about 3 feet and put some kind of table behind my chairs.

becasue i think i i have to put a love seat or something beinhd it, i would have to make a riser so you can get over the chairs in front of you,

so the love seat or couch would be about 32 inches deep, plus another foot for leg room, that would make my projector about 6 feet away from the wall. which would make about a 6.5ft screen, which is pretty nice actually, but then i need to build a riser and buy a couch tongue.gif

time to look up those diy couch forums tongue.gif

oh and i made the picture in 3d max, please dont take that as my 3d skills, i actually started with the loft bed, which is put together in 3d max as it would be in real life (nails and bolts placed, with actual size of lumber)

then i was like, what the hell ill just measue my room and draw it up real quick tongue.gif

when i get home ill draw up a new plan, thanks for the idea, now i can have more than 2 people sitting together

oh btw, my projector has my lens at a 10 degree tilt, its pretty much punishers

heck, i say:
move the loft 90 degrees to the left, and hang the pj under it. put chairs under that, and you can use those, or the bed to watch tv - hmmmm - sounds like a 'date night' tongue.gif

I was thinking of hanging the pj under my loft, but then realized that it would move whenever the bed above it moves.

Plus it's best to have the pj in an open area. Mine heats up under the loft like no tomorrow. Makes for sitting next to it a pain.

nah my desk underneath is gonna be connected to my loft so no go with that, i think im gonna go with the riser idea,

does anyone know how to make a nice sofa tongue.gif
vroom
Yeah, I second that request. DIY sofa site, anyone?
