Full Version: a/g polish removal

My projector LCD panel being all cauked around the aluminum frame leaves little choice for removal of the A/G. I have found this product "Blue Job" a baking soda powder-like polish compound to remove the A/G etching. http://www.blue-job.com Using cottong and ethyl alcohol with a even coverage will knock out the etching. As the ethyl alcohol evaporates cutting action is noted. What residue is left on the panel can be dusted off with a clean paint brush.

Removing the etching still requires a couple hours of work - "nothing is easy" but i does cut down etching.

Off axis view of the finished LCD panel will show a clear refletion of what's viewed (i.e., like a polarizer). Straight on its view is almost semi clear like a pearl paint job-like reflection.

Blue Job verses anti-glare removed shows great color still. A small increase in red, the nuclear blues, small touch of greens are present in facial tones, and a brightness increase. I am happy with the results.

There is always risk in trying something new.

Signed,

Micromatic (the panel is a Samsung)

Any photos of the surface of the polarizer? Peek Polish is the best one we have found so far. I would like to see how this polish compares.

Don't make me bring my 'Mother's' (Mother's Mag Polish) in here. Heheheheh...this is great, we have been so involved with actual removal of a/g that the polishing method was left on the shelf collecting dust. I'm looking forward to more posts and results by others using this method.

Yes micromatic, we'd be very interested to see some pics of your successful polished panel plus some pics of before and after projections if you have any. Bring 'em on.

etching removal.
Wonderful to see that it had such an effect. But it looks like PEEK is still on top. It produces a near mirror finish. You may consider hunting some down to take it even further.

Here is a rough set of pics of what PEEK can do:

After my paint stripper disaster with the CMV 520D, I thought this time around I would play it safe and use Peek polish on my new CMV 522A. After polishing for about 15 minutes in 1 little area, I discovered the Peek did nothing. After cleaning it off, there is no difference whatsoever from the area I polished and the rest of the panel. And yes, I'm polishing the correct side.

What kind of crazy indestructible antiglare does CMV use?

Oh well.....I'm trying the water soak method now.

I gave it a shot last night with the polish and it worked like wonders I first used some generic wheel stuff lying around the house and that hardly did a thing. I went and bought the mothers mag and aluminum and that was what I needed after 3 coats of that on my benq it was clear and sharp even more bright!!

interesting pic of the LF screen - almost TOO bright - may need some tweaking tho - obviously, the AG mod really helps when using this method of screen!!!??!!!

did you paint the screen yourself> do you mean that you didn't use an acrylic mirror but used the silver(painted on what ?) and then the llmax mix? which formulation did you use? how many coats? really interested in your method/results....
