Here is my strip, step by step...
First remove these two screws...
Yoder808
Nov 26 2005, 12:01 AM
Then squeeze these and pull up...
Yoder808
Nov 26 2005, 12:02 AM
Then you have this... Remove these six screws...
Yoder808
Nov 26 2005, 12:04 AM
Then... I used a screwdriver at the bottom of the case (to stay away from the LCD) to begin seperating the two halves of the case. Then I continued around the case with a smaller screwdriver, being careful not to touch the actual lcd or frame.
Yoder808
Nov 26 2005, 12:05 AM
Then you have this...
Yoder808
Nov 26 2005, 12:06 AM
Next, I unplugged the speaker and control panel panel connectors...
Yoder808
Nov 26 2005, 12:07 AM
Then I seperated the LCD panel from the rear frame...
Yoder808
Nov 26 2005, 12:07 AM
Panel is out now...
Yoder808
Nov 26 2005, 12:09 AM
Then I flipped it over, and disconnected the backlight connectors.
Yoder808
Nov 26 2005, 12:11 AM
Then I cut this ziptie.
Yoder808
Nov 26 2005, 12:12 AM
Then I pulled off this glue... at the lcd panel to lcd controller cable.
Yoder808
Nov 26 2005, 12:13 AM
Then I disconnected this end of the cable. I would NOT reccomend it. It was quite hard to get back in, and I had to file little burrs on the sides the on male end off. I would disconnect the end on the LCD controller.
Yoder808
Nov 26 2005, 12:15 AM
Then I took out the screws holding the Power supply and Controller on, and removed them. I believe there was also a ground wire here I removed.
Yoder808
Nov 26 2005, 12:16 AM
These screws are very tight, I used needle nose pliers to grab the head and try to loosen them, then used a small phillips screw driver to remove them.
Yoder808
Nov 26 2005, 12:17 AM
Then I removed the cover.
Yoder808
Nov 26 2005, 12:18 AM
Then I pulled up on the tabs holding the frame/backlight assembly together, lifting the panel out.
Yoder808
Nov 26 2005, 12:19 AM
The panel is now free.
Yoder808
Nov 26 2005, 12:20 AM
Remove these nuts from the VGA connector to free the LCD controller.
Yoder808
Nov 26 2005, 12:21 AM
The PSU free...

Ok, I am stripping my AG now, I decided to do the sand/stripper method. First I used some organic stripper, BIG MISTAKE... It didn't do hardly anything besides stink and make a mess. So now I got some Jasco Premium Paint and Epoxy Stripper, much better.... I will give a break down of what I got so far...
1.Masked edges of AG up to pixel line(hard to see) and edge connectors.
2.Sanded lightly with 320 grit(should have sanded longer, it is taking a long time to strip).
3.Appiled Jasco Stripper liberally over panel, wiped up excess.
4.Waited 15 minutes, checked, waited 15 more.
5.Removed and repeated 3 times.
6.Some AG is still on around the edges due to poor sanding.(Polarizer appears unharmed)
7.Still Stripping...
Yoder808
Nov 26 2005, 11:26 PM
Ok, AG has been stripped, it took me 10 application, although 6-7 of them were on edges only using a q-tip. I should have sanded better, that was 99% of my problem. I have some goop(stripper I guess) on the rear side of my panel, and I was able to get most of it off with alchohol. But a tiny bubble formed on the polarizer/tac so I stopped right away. I pluged the panel in and it appears to be working just fine. I dont see any colorless spots, even where the bubble is(yet)...

glad to hear you got most of the ag off.. any pics of the strip in progress?
Yoder808
Nov 27 2005, 06:49 AM
No, i wish! My batteries were dead, and even if I had them, I was running around like a mad man most of the time, freaking out...so... I will take some post-strip pics though...

Got in my reflector, Ikea napkin holder, it was in VERY good condition, but I polished further with Flitz, an aircraft aluminum polish we use at work. It increased it's reflectivness slightly, but it was like a mirror to begin with... Still waiting on lenses, light kit, and wiring kit. Ordered a Centerstage CS-1 for my video processing needs, $405.00...(retail $1999.99). It better beat the N6!

Yoder808,
(or anyone else who knows)
Could you please tell me the external dimensions of the LCD? (so I can know the internal dimensions of the frame.)
I am starting the final stages of planning (hopefully) and want to start making the frames. I have 3 small live wires running around my house, so I don't want to strip my LCD (I am getting the Hyundai L72S) until the very last moment. But building frames for the LCD and fresnels is my first step. I am going to use the threaded rod design with a pro lens, vertical, AG removed.
Thanks.

The centerstage is not required, although, something, like a PC(for DVD's, or with a capture/tuner card for TV), or a Nextvision N6, Kworld TV box, etc. would be required. Also the CS-1 will not process HD, only up to 480p over component. If your panel will take 720p(the L72s wont) you can use a transcoder.

I show it to be 13 and 5/8 wide by 10 and 15/16 tall. Don't quote me on that, I have a crappy tape measure.

Pro lenses are here(at LL), and all my stuff should be shipping very soon. I have made a styrofoam "blueprint" I will build off of, and the box doesn't look like it will be too big.

Yeah, they are tight huh. I did pretty much what you did, but I had a tiny tiny electronics screwdriver to help. Also, a trick I use at work on really tight screws is valve grinding compound. It is an abrasive paste that is used for grinding valves on recip engines, but it also helps to "bite" the screw. Good luck man!

Just added a black felt boarder to my screen. Bought it in a 1"(i think) roll at walmart for about $1 per yard. Glued it on with fabric glue, its like Elmers glue. It sucks. I would use hot glue probably(low temp). Anyway, I think it looks freakin sweeeeeeet.
