I CANNOT use a HTPC (all I have is laptops), and I don't want to spend over $250 on scalers. I tried to order a StarTech VGA2TV2WAY AND the VID2VGATV, but both of them have been discontinued by StarTech (what the heck??). I want to use the Xbox 360 on it, so am I out of luck? Remember, NOTHING over $250, and I cannot use a HTPC.

Hey how about a Samsung HD950. This things is awesome with movies. My son has my camera or I would post a picture. It's the only thing hooked to my pj. It has rgb inputs so your xbox should work? I don't have an xbox so I cannot test it. It is hdmi out to dvi too. use a code hack to make it HDCP free. 480P,720P, 1080i
$160.00 or 184.00 shipped.

The Xbox 360 has a VGA cord available, so you don't need ANYTHING. Read up on the XBOX 360 if you want to see it, it will be available everywhere.
http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x/xbox360vgahdcable/ here is a link. Everyone asks about this, I can't believe more
people don't know about this.

Come to think of it, the monitor may have to support 720p natively to work, not real sure about that. I am not sure if there are many details out on the workings of it yet.

Ah, just found this in an FAQ...
Q. Can I use my computer monitor as my display for the Xbox 360?
A. Yes, depending on the type of monitor you have. And you will likely be able to play games in high definition too. As long as your monitor supports a resolution of 1280 x 720 or more, you should be able to play Xbox 360 games in high definition. In order to use your monitor you will most likely need to purchase the Xbox 360 VGA HD Cable and connect it to your monitor’s VGA port. If you don’t have a free VGA port on your monitor, you will either need to switch back and forth or purchase a VGA switcher.
So... At worst I would think you would have black bars in 1280x1024... BTW I just ordered the L72S... Good luck to you.
