The SS400DD is the most popular bulb so far. It is available in the LL store or you can find it from a different source. It is also compatible with the LL eballast.

The second most popular bulb is the Venture 40124. It has a lower color temperature, but a higher lumens output. A reasonable number of people are starting to reccomend this bulb. I am going to use it in my 17" setup, but I cannot speak towards it being better or worse than the Ushio SS400DD.

Do a search on Venture, you'll see a lot of discussion and results. I personally think the venture and coil ballast are easily the best way to go.

EDIT: since i had some catching up to do on the new reflector specs, I would consider going with the ushio T-15 bulb instead of the Venture ed28 bulb if necessary to use the new reflector. But unless things have improved with the eballast from 4 months ago, my personal opinion would be to go with a coil ballast.

I think there is also a T15 ushio (not the normal one) with higher lumens that the s400dd but lower temp(very similar to output from the venture bulb) plus because it is T15 shape, you could use it with the new reflector or the ikea

As stated by the guide, the LL eballast will handle pretty much any 400W HID lamp you can throw at it.
