Yes, I am so happy! The wife told me today to start ordering parts for the projector! I have been researching and lurking in the forums for a year, helped my buddy build his, strip his AG, and hung his Da-Lite High Power, and now, FINALLY I get to build mine! WooooHoooo. Ok, now a few quick questions... Which 17" LCD is good, I am thinking the Hyundai L72S or L72D. It looks like a good panel, and no issues(that I know of). Also, I plan to do a folded horizontal design, for side-ways shelf placement, requiring no keystoning. Since I dont need keystone, should I leave the fresnels unsplit, or split them anyway? I am looking for the most even brightness and focus possible. Also, does focal calc II show screen size in Diag or vertical size? This is a large factor. Well, I am soooo ready to get started I am about to loaf in my loafers. Any other advice, throw my way!

Just ordered the Pro Lenses, Light, and Wiring Kits. I am really thinking hard about the L72S... Can't wait.

Congrats welcome to your new addiction!!! blink.gif
Hyundai's seem to be getting good reviews, I've got a Benq and the Dell FP1704 have very high contrast, you'll have to decide for yourself though (that why its called DIY).
If you don't need keystone unsplit gives the best picture as the fresnel between the LCD and triplet is in the optical path. This hasn't been a major problem in the past but AG removal seems to be causing reports of fresnel rings being visable so unsplit maybe more popular in the future. The design doesn't change much as long as you don't need to support the keystone tilting so it wouldn't be a big deal to try it both ways.
Any of the focal calc programs can be used of diag, width or height, but whatever you use for the LCD is what you get for the screen. As most of us know the LCD diag and use that you will get the screen diag.

Hope this helps.

Cool, I am now thinking about looking at Samsung, as they have a 0 dead pixel warranty. I guess dell has a 6 minimum. Hmm, my buddies CMV has 2 and they are bright RED. I don't want that for sure... Also, I want to do a horizontaly folded design, but I have only seen one like this, and I dont remember where at. Can someone steer me in the right direction? I don't know how to calculate my focal lengths with a mirror, all I know is it should be at a 45 degree angle. Also, would this cause any focus probs?

I'm not sure but I think Samsungs zero dead policy was only good in Korea.
Some stores have zero dead pixels and it would be easier to get a return from where you bought it rather than the manufacturer.
Horizonatal is the same as verticle so you can look at either only difference is that because you want to show a horizontal image it gets folded in the LCDs width instead of hieght difection which makes the mirror longer rather tahn wider.
As far as distances with the mirror you only need to worry about the centerline. The center of the mirror needs to be over the center of the monitor so the mirror to triplet distance is ussualy right about half the width of the monitor plus 1-2 inches for frame and the box. Subtracting that from the total focal length gets you the LCD to mirror distance. Do a scale drawing and check your dimensions.

Cool, I got the L72S, I think I will be really pleased with it. I also think I will do an unsplit design, but I am not sure about the AG making fresnel lines visible. I know in a SPLIT config after doing my buddies, we saw fresnel lines on the corners, but it was fixed easily by moving the rear fresnel back 1/8 inch. I understand the whole folding thing now, I never even thought to look at verticaly folded designs(duh).
