Recently I've been working on a PJ using a hi-res Toshiba portable dvd player. Movies look extremely great, but I'm having problems with anything hooked up to an external source. The player has only a single crappy mini-jack composite input, so everything looks dark, washed out, and like crap. My primary concern is having my Xbox look good, as it's been softmodded so I'll be using it as my "media center".

The DVD player seems to refuse to let me modify any of the brightness/contrast/color settings if I'm on the external input; something that i could normally do when watching a DVD.

I'm getting pretty desperate. All i want is anything that'll let me play around with the video signal coming from the Xbox's composite output before it reaches the PJ. After some searching, I came up with this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Sima-Video-Process...1QQcmdZViewItem

It's a bit pricey, so I'll keep looking. Anyone know of any other options? The N6/N4 seems to do everything that I'd need (plus a bonus TV tuner), except for the fact that it seems to only output VGA.

PLEASE, would someone help me here.

Thank you!

Have you considered using an X2VGA+ for your xbox ? Can't you adjust brightness/contrast with the xbox for running DVD's ?

... just a thought...

I looked into the X2VGA+, and though it has a composite-out, I don't see how it'll help me to calbrate the video settings.

The Xbox itself allows for adjustment in a very few specific games, and possibly dvd's. What i want is an overall adjustment that'll apply to any video signal that the xbox puts out.

Thank you!

Sorry about that... the X2VGA+ won't work with what you want to do as it only supports VGA in/out. (reread your post, you're working with a panel with only a composite input). There are stand-alone video processors and/or time based correctors (TBC) you could use to make these adjustments, however, these items can be very expensive depending on what you need... a search on ebay may turn up a deal...
