I was curious what games you guys like playing on your projectors,
so far i like

pretty much gaming is the best purpose for a lumenlab projector. That and cable Tv. I mean you have basically infinite bulb life and no possibility of burn in... Nobody with a big expensive projector (escpecially CRT) would be willing to "waste" their projectors lifespan on such things as games or cable TV all day. I bought an old 1600x1200 EM focus CRT projector ($300) with 20,000:1 contrast for movies and I'm building a lumenlab projector for games, just to avoid burn in and any guilt that comes with overusing the projector and ending its lifespan quicker. Lumenlabs are pretty much invincible, my CRTs would be shot in a year of doing all the things I plan to do with my lumenlab. And other digital projectors would need to have their bulbs replaced at least once in the same timeframe.
Cold Steel
Need For Speed2 Underground rocks. The rain hitting the windshield is awesome. Multiple big drops.
Also Unreal Tournament 2004. This game moves so quickly it's a little tough on the eyeball to stomach ratio. I love playing it though with the Tank , Scorpion, Hellbender, Raptor and others being like 7 ft high.
Try you a game of Solitaire. BIG CARDS

I would be all over a 1v1 UT2004 LL tourny smile.gif See how many people would be up for it and then create a bracket, and do a double elimination style 1v1 tourny. That would fun as all hell, would be sweet too if there was some sort of prize too hehe.

Would be a hoot and probably a first, a 1v1 tourny played on nothing but LL big screen goodness hehe. I normally play at 120" so 8 feet wide by 6 feet tall. And I sit 16 feet from my screen so scale wise its not much different then sitting with my face a few feet from my 19 inch CRT, but it sure is fun at 120" hehe
MrWaxhead
And latency wise, if enough hoes around here were up for it, you could have a west bracket and a east bracket, that would be played out tell there was a winner in each bracket, then the top x number from each bracket could do another bracket on a central server, would be tons of fun and maybe a bit of a plug for LL units. I can say, when ever I play UT2004 I unshamefully plug my LL unit online all the time smile.gif

Hell you could even advertise it up on some UT forums, unrealtournament.com and prounreal.com etc once rules etc were figured out, and make the requirement for entry a LL membership hehe
MrWaxhead
And if there was a prize system in place, the new memberships alone would probably cover the cost of them if they set up the tourny right and it would draw in new blood to the LL comunity, plus tons of exposure for the LL product. But hell even a friendly LL based tourny would be fun.

Sorry for actually getting 'back on topic' wink.gif

I love racing games on the pj -- anything that gives you a sense of immersion. The Flatout demo looked awesome on my screen.

I love a good FPS, but I'm a little disappointed to see them on my PJ (Doom 3, Half Life 2, Halo 2 and FEAR), but mainly because my response time is kinda slow (25ms) and I don't have a comfortable keyboard/mouse setup on my couch yet.

I'm really looking forward to seeing a next-gen console on my screen. So far my favorite has got to be Super Mario Bros. and Donkey Kong Country on a 10-foot screen!!!

Ya racing games are hoot for sure, so are flight sims. I find at 16ms fast fps games like UT are tolerable. I get very slight ghosting but not enough to bother me. And I did not even notice the ghosting until I put my CRT beside my LCD before I stripped it, and ran a game on both screens at the same time. I am not a huge console player I have not even had a console since the N64 days. I may break down and buy a xbox360 being that it will have a vga out and go well with my projector. The ps3 in interesting me too being that it will have the blueray drive, but then I would have to go out and drop even more money on a HDCP stripper to make use of it.

And as far as FPS games on my projector, UT2004 is by far my fav. It has nice fast action, and by default its a nice bright game that looks very sweet on my projector.

yea, agree with the racing games, they rule but only with the projector.

i have a wireless keyboard and mouse setup in my room but my LL is in my garage so im thinkgin i might sacrafice that so i can play the LL anywhere in the garage.

Ill install UT 04 tonight when im off work, ill play anyone 1v1 just send me a PM

F-Zero GX on gamecube is pretty intense. So far my gamecube has been the most fun with the projector.

Xbox is a differant story. I waited 9 months after Halo 2's release to get it because I wanted to build the projector first. I figured it would be completely awsome and a great first game for the projector thanks to the great reviews.

Well I've yet to have a second of real enjoyment playing Halo 2, I am constantly annoyed by the lack of brightness and I'm find I'm enjoying it less then I did playing Halo 1 on my 27 inch.

I really didn't think brightness would be an issue. But it is. Fortunatly antiglare removal came to the rescue. I have yet to order my replacement polarizer but it sure looks promising.

Anyways, not to discourage you, Whorse, but I think I should warn you, it seems htpc's are a must for lumenlab projectors and with gaming systems thats not always compatible.

Fortunatly the Xbox 360 will have VGA output so that should allow us to connect to a computer but, anyways, just thought I'd give you the heads up.

I can't play Halo 2 on the pj either (or any Xbox games for that matter). The problem is with any games using a composite signal -- they're just too dark or contrasty (depending on how you've set your inputs). I've got Halo 1 on my pc and it looks great. If you've got the capability, you really need to go component all the way.

I bought an off-brand Xbox HD pack and a component-to-VGA cable. Unfortunately, only the green channel shows up (like a black and white image, but green). Not sure if it's a bad HD pack or my monitor's fault.

But I think it will be playable with removed antiglare.

Oh yeah, and watching some of the key movie scenes in Final Fantasy X is completely awsome! biggrin.gif

Totally agree with Mikau on that one. I started FFX over again on the pj. Lot more fun this time, bigger picture and surround sound. Last time I played it on a very worn 20+ year old big screen tv, I kept missing all the Al Bhed primers cuz it was so dang fuzzy. rolleyes.gif Oh well, tuff life, huh?

Yuna is hot.

Yeah, they sure did design a lot of female eye candy for that game, not too much for the ladies to look at, though. Yeah, Tidus is nice in the boy-next-door way, young Auron is pretty hot, but Wakka (poor, sweet, innocent and thus corruptible Wakka) he's my fav.

Another good game is Hypersonic Xtreme, 'nother racing game where you see the rain splash across the screen. It's kinda like a roller coaster, but in inclement weather!
