I am planning on building a horizontal projector using Pro Lens kit with 17". I have a rough layout already but I am not sure if this will work. So, I welcome all your suggestions or corrections.

Here is my new redesign.

Great layout! I like the idea of hiding the ballast (and some other electric) in a separate box but still inside the pj. I hope you enjoy sharing because this design is likely to be borrowed from....heavily. smile.gif

This is a pretty clean layout. Good Job! I had a similar idea but this layout satisfies all of my preconcieved ideas. Just one question. Which way is the placement of the LCD facing to reflect the image properly?

MacGyver, I believe the lcd's viewable side would be facing the mirror with the top of the lcd on the back of the projector facing away from the triplet. Whether horizontal or vertical, one mirror folded designs should function just like an overhead projector in theory.

The rule to follow is this:

When you look at the LCD through the triplet hole (That means looking at the mirror reflection(s) of the triplet, as the light path is intended to hit the triplet) what you should see is the image upside down and backwards.

In a straight path projector, that means that the LCD "faces" the lamp. With a single mirror, it would face the mirror. 2 mirrors (ie, a "periscope",) and it would face the lamp again.

This is also the way to figure out the LCD placement if you're using a vertical design.

Thanks MacGyver.

I thought of using vertical design but since my ceiling is less than 8ft, it'd b a problem for me to tilt the image. So, I came up with this design which is the same as commercial projector. It'd be easy for me to tilt the image up or down.

Thanks manshack and SupraGuy for the instruction of how to place the LCD. This also answer my question that I'd ask.

I certainly hope you end up being more active than Thomas. I've been waiting on him to test those designs for quite a while. I really want an HD horizontally folded projector, but I'm too chicken to try an untested design. I'll be keeping an eye on this plog...good luck. smile.gif

Thanks, SpiralOut
I may disappoint you for this because I can't do anything until the snow season end. Right now it's getting cold and I don't have place to work so I have to wait.
