Hi!

I'm very amazed by the way of the project, by all the way everybody is already speaking about.

But only one thing stuck me : Finding the good lcd monitor.

For the price i don't matter to by a brand new one. But since one hour i'm looking for information in the forum about the compatibility of LCD monitor. I've read someone which mentionned a compatibility list for lcd monitors.

LDLC 15" list
Here is a list where I can get my monitor, as soon as I know which one I can buy, you've got my bucks. smile.gif

I will continue to serch information about and I hope i haven't started a FAQ topic.

Thanks
Eyebath
Hi Miles,

When you buy the projector plans, you then get access to the protected forums. Here you will find many compatible LCD threads and lots of helpful people. Why not purchase the plans? You will be glad you did, we all are wink.gif

I just want to know if I'm able to get a compatible monitor and this before buying the plans wink.gif

Ok, I will tell you that the three monitors that are mostly used by people on this site are the CMV 1515 & CMV 1212 (aka - LiquidVideo A150X1), the BenQ fp557s & Benq fp567s, and the Samsung LTM 1555. Hope this helps. There are countless others though that are compatible, I highly recommend you become a member and check it out. It will be the most important purchase you make throughout this whole project. cool.gif

By the way, there will be other good sources for monitors wherever you are. Don't pin all your hopes on one site, try others wink.gif

And it seems there is a lack of information for the DIY used people. I think lumenlab is truthworthy but we need to know a little bit more before asking the guide.
Like the distance of projection, the specifications of the results...

Thanks Eyebath

And I want only to get my monitor by french provider. But for the other part I will certainly use the shop link to lumenlab

If you want to see resulst, check here:

http://www.lumenlab.com/forums/index.php?showforum=3

As for distances, the distance your projector sits from the screen, and the screen size are almost a 1:1 ratio, so if your projector sits 80" from the screen, you'll have close to an 80" screen, 100" from the screen, and you get a 100" screen, etc.

Take a look in the project gallery for results.

If you can afford to buy a monitor, I'm sure you can afford the plans! If you are worried about the quality of the plans and service/help on this site, then don't be. I'm sure everyone will back me up on how good this site has become.

Good luck

All the monitors you propose to me seems to be unknown in France.

Don't worry Miles, I'm sure you will be able to. In the whole of France, there will be countless sources for compatible monitors. smile.gif

I took a real quick look on the site, and I didn't find any of the known monitors for sale there. However, the list that's been compiled is only of those that have been tried up to this point. Any monitor that's not on either the compatible list or incompatible list may still work, it's just untested at this point. That's the only site you'll buy your monitor from, huh? That can't be the only LCD retaler in France, can it?

Just an example...
But it's the best and most common in France.

I see, well I will agree with Eyebath, the help on the site alone is worth the $20 you'll pay for the guide. When you get the guide you'll get access to the private forums which have lists of monitors known to be compatible, and monitors know to be incompatible, and using both it should not be hard to find the right monitor for you. What I did at first was I took the list to all my local retailers and said "Do you have any of the monitors on this list?" and narrowed it down from there...

I understand not wanting to get ripped off, but I'm sure you'll agree if you buy the guide that this is anything but a rip off...

...Damn right! tongue.gif

In fact $20 is a bargain. I haven't encountered anyone on this site who is unsatisfied.

Well, we had one, I guess. Complained that it was a rip off and demanded his money back but he was a scammer. Turns out he took his money back, kept his guide, stole all the pics from the main page, then started re-selling the plans on ebay! Brain caught 'em though...

There is a list of European monitors from another French guy in the compatible thread.

My first post!
I have been reading these forums now for a week. I've read nearly every post avaliable to a non-customer. I have learned so much. I really appreciate the information avaliable, even for a person who has not purchased the guide. I have gleaned enough information from the site that I am confident that I will be able to complete my project even without the guide. But... I will purchase the guide because the real value is the help that can be garnered from you nice folks on this forum.

I have seen the free guides at the other site, which are ok guides, but the forum is not as active. I like to see how much Mr Brainchild posts and willing to help even non-customers. Thanks so much!

I found a 400:1 contrast ratio monitor at the Dell site for 224.25:

http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/Product...uctlisting.aspx

I have two Envision EN5200ei monitors and one of the Dells from the link above. I have searched and found that the EN5200ei may not be a good one for DIY, is anyone able to confirm and why? I would really like to use one of my Envisions. As for the Dell above, anyone know if this is a rebranded monitor maybe made by a known good DIY manufacturer? I will buy another one of these Dell E153FPs for the price of 224.25 anyway. It is really a good deal.

Let me know if any one of you buy this Dell monitor.

www.stevequalls.com for a look see at my LCDs in triple monitor setup.
