Well... no LL projector is ever "completed," but I think I'm ready to start a gallery.
Dweezilkid's Projector:
Samsung 150MP
Lumenlab E-ballast / SD4000 / standard lens kit
Case made from 1/2" oak plywood
120" Screen (blackout cloth with black suede border)
HTPC using Theatertek 2.0 with ffdshow
(Note: some of these pics are "perspective cropped" in Photoshop since I haven't had a tripod to get a straight-on shot. No brightness/contrast/filters were used)

Thanks everyone! Building this thing was a heck of a ride. With all the talk of LF screens and antiglare removal, I can't wait to experiment down the road.
I was a sucker for screenies before I signed up for this site. Here's a little dose o' payback...

What kind of screen do you have on the wall?
Dweezilkid
Nov 8 2005, 08:37 PM
I built it myself using the extra-wide blackout cloth from the Lumenlab store, 1x4's (thinner than that, I think), metal brackets and black suede from Joanne's Fabric.

Pretty good specs on that monitor. Mine's only 25ms and 300:1, but any lack of contrast in these newer pictures is only due to ffdshow settings and camera settings. After the new modifications, it's rockin' in real life.
Here are the main two antiglare threads (in the protected forums):
MAIN THREAD (insanely long read, but informative)RESULTS THREAD (start here, instructions within)Be careful going down this road -- you can kill your LCD. I'd read a lot about technique before you do.

Okay everyone, play nice

First off, thanks everyone.
1) I think we've established that most commercial projectors are brighter. The bottom line is,
I built this.
2) The
exposure settings on that Darla pic were meant to reflect how much better the image looks after antiglare removal. Nothing more.
I'm still using my SD4000 bulb, it's out of alignment, and I'm also using the standard triplet. I think there's still some brightness to be gained.

Dweez, Nice pic of Darla. What was your exposure setting when you took the pic? I am trying to determine for myself how bright the image actually was.
BTW Dweez, Excellent results. I am definitely considering the AG removal.

Dweez,
Scrumptious pics! This a/g removal really works wonders, don't it

. Still waiting on a camera to snap some comparative screenshots for my PLOG - the brightness doesn't seem to be all that much more, but the COLORS sure got 300% more purdy!!
Looking forward to some more comparative A/B's ...

It's called "Red Oak." I can't remember the brand name, but it comes in a little yellow can at Home Depot. I'd like to seal it with a semi-gloss coat sometime.
