This is my striped Benq 557S with lots of ground wires installed. It is built like a tank you cannot go wrong with this baby. It has no edge conectors on the sides and the ones on the bottom are very strong. but still be very careful.

Awesome, thanks Jack! I'm looking forward to seeing your pj finished almost as much as seeing mine finished...
That bowl looks great, by the way. I was thinking about using my icd cream bowl (like joe's) just without the lightbox, but I think you've convinced me to get a Norpro when lamps gets them in stock.

Here are my rocker swiches installed one is for the lamp and one is for the lcd and fan. They are $2.69 each from Radio Shack. Rated for 125v ac. I just drilled a 3/4" hole with a paddle bit. They fit nice and tite.

supermadmax,
This is a great project thread! All this help is most appreciated. You're doing a super job! Everything is neat and clean.
It looks like all the same equipment I'm using, so that part is going to be a huge help for me. I really like the size of you pictures and the content is great too!
Thanks a lot!

Here is my fan cover. It is a dryer vent from Lowe's it cost $2.47. It is light weight and works great. I used my dremel tool to cut some plastic off the back. This pic is with the fan off.

May 4 2004, 12:52 AM
This pic is with the fan on full blast. No problem with air flow and I don't think my cat will get his "paw" into the fan
did you choose that cover to block light leaks too?
i was going to use a plain old grill on my fans but if a lot of light comes out i might try something different.

May 4 2004, 06:14 AM
Thanks Mark for the kind words and yes jeh It will block the light very well. This is another reason I installed it

How much light leaks out the back when using a reflector such as the Norpro?

Cool I didn't realise that, I haven't examined mine (just stripped it and put it in a box!)
I should be able to just silicone the edges into the metal frame then, right?

This is my striped Benq 557S with lots of ground wires installed.
...I meant to ask, did all those ground wires come wired to the boards already, or did you add them? My boards are still in the metal case, see.
supermadmax
May 6 2004, 03:24 AM
Hi eye i added all the ground wires. If you have a voltmeter set it for continuity and check each screw hole to screw hole with it. I used one ground wire to each board accept the small green video board which has one jumper ground wire on it. Very critical.

I expected the sudden charging of the capacitor would snap a fast blow fuse. If it does in the future, I see no harm in using a 'slow' blow fuse. The difference in response times is minimal. I don't have any real figures, so I won't post them, but I think the slow ones still react within a second, rather than near instantly.
