supermadmax
Here is the Benq control panel installed. Thank god for the dremel tool. tongue.gif
supermadmax
Hi flyboy and thanks. Your panel is on it's way. I insured it for $350.00 good luck. smile.gif
supermadmax
Here is the lamp installed and the metal flashing on the ballast. the wiring is not done yet.
supermadmax
This is my striped Benq 557S with lots of ground wires installed. It is built like a tank you cannot go wrong with this baby. It has no edge conectors on the sides and the ones on the bottom are very strong. but still be very careful. ohmy.gif
mccamp82

Looks great madmax! Keep it up.
supermadmax

Awesome, thanks Jack! I'm looking forward to seeing your pj finished almost as much as seeing mine finished... biggrin.gif

That bowl looks great, by the way. I was thinking about using my icd cream bowl (like joe's) just without the lightbox, but I think you've convinced me to get a Norpro when lamps gets them in stock.
supermadmax
Here are my rocker swiches installed one is for the lamp and one is for the lcd and fan. They are $2.69 each from Radio Shack. Rated for 125v ac. I just drilled a 3/4" hole with a paddle bit. They fit nice and tite. biggrin.gif
brainchild
Umm I don't see any switches..
supermadmax
Brain are you going blind? just kidding my computer froze up and I had to reboot.
green42
Looks really good. The pictures are very helpful. Showing every little detail about how you setup the Norpro and everything. I can't wait to see the final results.
supermadmax
Here is the wiring done. One fuse is a 6 amp fast blow for the ballast and one is a 1 amp fast blow for the lcd and fan.
supermadmax
Next pic showing the 12v d.c. transformer for the fan on the left covered with flashing.
supermadmax
More flashing to cover the wires.
supermadmax
Hey it Works biggrin.gif
supermadmax
This is for brain and lustra. If your not on the IRC your missing out.

supermadmax,

This is a great project thread! All this help is most appreciated. You're doing a super job! Everything is neat and clean.

It looks like all the same equipment I'm using, so that part is going to be a huge help for me. I really like the size of you pictures and the content is great too!

Thanks a lot!
Mark

Here is my fan cover. It is a dryer vent from Lowe's it cost $2.47. It is light weight and works great. I used my dremel tool to cut some plastic off the back. This pic is with the fan off.
supermadmax
This pic is with the fan on full blast. No problem with air flow and I don't think my cat will get his "paw" into the fan biggrin.gif
jeh
did you choose that cover to block light leaks too?

i was going to use a plain old grill on my fans but if a lot of light comes out i might try something different.
supermadmax
Thanks Mark for the kind words and yes jeh It will block the light very well. This is another reason I installed it biggrin.gif
Rorshach
How much light leaks out the back when using a reflector such as the Norpro?

Lookin Good Supermadmax!

Cool I didn't realise that, I haven't examined mine (just stripped it and put it in a box!)

I should be able to just silicone the edges into the metal frame then, right? wink.gif

This is my striped Benq 557S with lots of ground wires installed.

...I meant to ask, did all those ground wires come wired to the boards already, or did you add them? My boards are still in the metal case, see.
supermadmax
Hi eye i added all the ground wires. If you have a voltmeter set it for continuity and check each screw hole to screw hole with it. I used one ground wire to each board accept the small green video board which has one jumper ground wire on it. Very critical.

I am surprised.

I expected the sudden charging of the capacitor would snap a fast blow fuse. If it does in the future, I see no harm in using a 'slow' blow fuse. The difference in response times is minimal. I don't have any real figures, so I won't post them, but I think the slow ones still react within a second, rather than near instantly.
supermadmax
The fast blow fuse works just fine.
supermadmax
Almost done biggrin.gif I am Just waiting for my glass. The shop messed up and put the stamp on the tempered glass

here's my digi temp from gemplers.com with alarm and flashing leds. My vga cable is going to go through the same drilled hole.
jeremyvnc
Wow, you have twice as many screws on the bottom than I do. You could probably bounce that box!!

here is the link

am i screwed, it says 12V on the side. i never read the radio shack part of your post wacko.gif
supermadmax
Sorry but they will not work. You need switches rated for 120vac.
drowhunter
ya i figured that out when the switch started smokin.
supermadmax
fire!!! fire!!! tongue.gif
supermadmax
Here is a pic of the fresnels in glass and the lcd installed in the box. The fresnels slide out for easy cleaning.
