Hi Everyone,
i have made some good progress on the bulb factor.

now i have established, when the box is on its side and the bulb is standing upwards (ballast is on its side, horizontaly placed) that the bulb is burning white in colour.

when i then put the box back to its normal place, the bulb sideways hanging from the inside of the box, (ballast is standing upwards vertically on the back of the box)
the bulb burns very very green.

this totally be-wilders me..
would love someone with more knowledge then me to help out with possibilities

burning position of the bulb is most likely the culprit... the bulbs require a certain orientation to burn correctly. different bulbs have different orientation requirements. check your bulb specs for the burning position

btw.. these threads should go in the help topic, not the proj gallery smile.gif

ok thanks ill make sure i put my questions in the right topic now.

i am using the ushio 400dd bulb from lumen lab..
plenty of other people seem to be using these fine...

is there any chance that the ballast has something wrong with it..

i have just turned the projector on sideways.. without lens lcd etc.

and the circle on the front of the pj that gets projected onto the wall, well the top half of the projected circle is swaying left to right, it started slow and became fast... and now it has stayed still... and is white.

when it was swaying left to right, it was green then went white, and kept doing that (changing colour tones very quickly, at some point went it changed direction in its sway)

im not sure whats going on,,, pulses or something??
i dont think something is right with the ballast now...
any advice on the iissue?? ty ryan

Make sure the base of the bulb is screwed in all the way. If you have any of the metal of the base of the bulb going past the rim of the socket it goes into you may not be tight enough to make a good contact.
ryaninlondon
i can confirm that the bulb wasnt tightly into the socket, but now i have tightened right up, and turned it on.. it is just as green/if not greener then before.

i actually thought you may have found the problem at the time, as it was fairly loose in comparison to what it is now, done a few complete rotations to tighten.......
not sure what else to try......................... grrrrr

can anyone please tell me if this bulb looks compatible as i have already bought it and its on its way. i dont even know if the bulb will put out colour...
the quickest answer would be appreciated as i can cancell order within the next 8 hours biggrin.gif thank you.

What ballast are you using?

Who is the MANUFACTURER of the bulb?

I don't know, but it is possible the bulb just needs to burn in. I think sometimes a greenish tinge is normal in the beginning.

Otherwise, maybe the bulb is not being run in its proper orientation. I don't know the reasons for this, but they are designed and built to run in a certain position, it is not good to run it in a different position. I think it has something to do with what ever is in the ARC chamber and the effect of gravity. But I am really not sure.

The bulb will need time to adjust to it's new position, which is why it goes green. The halides and such inside the bulb physically move around.
