Just a few questions.

1. How much farther in inches will the Pro Lens need to be in front of the LCD as opposed to the current lens ?
2. Answered already elsewhere.
3. Will the new Pro lens be noticeably brighter than the old lens ? if so what is the current estimate in% of the increase in brightness.
4. Will the new Pro lens have excellent corner to corner focus ?

I know some of these questions might have been already answered but with the current innovations here at LumenLab I'm getting a little lost. blink.gif

1. Pro lens FL is 500mm, the original lens is 320mm. So at the very least the increase in distance will be approximately 180mm, which translates to approximately 7"

2. Okay...

3. Probably not, however a larger LCD screen captures more light, so overall lumens should increase. Don't count on a huge increase from this alone. The larger lens is a nice to have for capturing light, so there's a potential for improved lighting.

4. This is why the lens is undergoing more rigorous testing this time. So far, Brain's results look good, but he wants independant confirmation before he orders the lenses in. With luck the triplet will pass these tests with flying colours, so to speak. If it does not provide corner-to-corner focus, then there's no point in replacing the previous generation of pro lenses with this one. We're certainly HOPING that it will, but let's wait until testing is all done.

Thanks for the quick response.

One last question. In order to get the extra 7 inches could I just make a longer focusing box? I'm using a Slusher Box and I could move the light back another 3-4 inches. Then could I make a longer focus box to make up the other 3 inches?

TIA. smile.gif

Yes, something like that should work fine.

You will need to ensure that hte focusing mechanism still has a clear field of view to the whole LCD. If you're using a 17" LCD, this may be problematic. I'd suggest increasing the size of hte focus box anyway to deal with the larger lens diameter.
