Hey arrik, nice setup! How's it working out with the theater seats? I'd like to fit more people into my viewing area but I don't think I'm quite ready to head in that direction. Is that a 17" iMac G5? Is there a way that you can turn off the screen and still run movies through it? (Just wondering, cuz I'm borrowing a 20" G5 and not that I'd hook it up to my pj, but the thought just crossed my mind the other day) Thanks and great work!

Thank you. My friend is gonna let me borrow his camera which should produce better images. Hopefully, I will have them up soon. I will also start a thread for more specifics (if interested) in the private forums.

Thanks man. The theater seats may not be as much an investment as you would perceive. I sourced them off Ebay for $25 a piece with $19 shipping. They are really comfortable, have high backs, and have really thick seat cushion. The elevated back row really "hightens" the movie experience. As far as the iMac, YES it is a 17" G5. I use it in conjunction with the projector so when I edit video I am able to preview off of the big screen. I am almost positive there is a way in which to fade the iMac to black when outputting to an outside source. However, I am really lazy and haven't taken the time to figure it out. Instead I have turned the brightness down to minimum on the G5 to inhibit light reflections on the screen. 20 inch iMac is nice, maybe too nice to resign to a projector....... but I'd do it, but that's just me.

Hello Joe, Tes. Thanks for takin the time to check out my PJroom. Good to hear from peeps I learned alot from.
I didnt want theater seats at first. The price changed my mind. You're right, it is more for my friends that come over. Get the real "Wow Factor" with it. Only problem is, the elevated theater seats take all the attention away from my poor projector, where most of the work was put in

Anyways, I will get the private thread goin soon.

Awsome job,
I have a small question, when viewing the projection in real life, do you think that the image is darker, the same or brighter then your recently posted pictures.
Thanks,
Timmeh

Room size is kinda small 20x15. That's why I only put 8 seats.
As far as the image is concerened, the sony cybershot pictures (2nd set) were set to match the actual RL viewing brightness. 1st set did no justice. The Advent Children CG pics look too bright, but unfortunately, that's how it looks on my PJ. The whites seem to flare alot.
More pics on the way homies.

Those first few pics that are kind of dark look like my projections in real life. I'm begining to think theres a problem with my electrical supply.
Ah well, antiglare removal should fix things.

Arrik, the digital camera pics are excellent. I like that Scarface poster in the back. Why can't we see a couple of Scarface pics.
That would be nice to see a couple of good old school movie pics.

Just to reassure you, the projection image shouldn't be too bright as it will give a washed-out look and might give you eyestrain. I went to see a movie to compare my result with a real movie theater and I was surprised too see that the image in the theater is not that bright. And it wasn't a cheap movie theater. It was at the Paramount.

Really? Last time I went to a theatre I came home and wanted to smash my projector with a sledgehammer! But anyways, things are improving, little by little.

wow! I would ask for a ticket refund

Somewhere I've read, that a recommended brightness for screens in movie theaters is about 100 lumens/m2. We get about 100-200 TOTAL lumens from our projectors (I think most are closer to 100lm, according to given screen sizes and camera settings, if this info is posted), so enough for the screen up to about 1.6m x 1.2m, or even smaller.

actually it doesn't surpise me about the commercial movie thatre....one of movie critics biggest complaints (eg Roger ebert) is that theatres turn down the brightness of the projection from recommended specs to lengthen the bulb life because they are so expensive and one of the main costs to the theatre

That's good to hear Mikau (not the Sledgehammer in PJ part

) You been a member for a long time now. I thought you had worked out all your projector's quirks already. As I stated earlier in the thread though, I do get a little washed out with whites because it flares. But I do agree with you in that the more acceptable negative would be brightness. I'll check out your PLOG again, not that I'd be able to tell you something you or others haven't figured out already..... but who knows!

But then again you can look directly a 400W MH without pain.
