Lumenlab > Audio Video Sciences > Advanced Projector Builder > "Folded" designs
hello world
The lumenlab guide is what I planning on using to help me build my projector (my first one), but I don't want to use a 15" XGA monitor. I want to use a 17" or 19" monitor because most of the time they have higher contrast and resolution. If I did use a 17" LCD, would that mess up the guide? Also, if there is a way to reduce the space (the box is huge) that would help alot too. I want to use THIS monitor. I plan on using the xbox 360 with it, so would this monitor be compatible? How would you get component to work with this? Thanks
Zete
You're going to need to buy larger fresnels. The standard ones offered in the LL store will not be big enough to scatter the light across a 17" lcd. The pro fresnels would work, but they won't be in for over a month. The other option is to import some frenels from tiawan through 3dlens.com . The 395mm x 395mm (220 and 330mm focal length) ones will be large enough for a 17" setup. That is actually what I'm going to be doing for my 17" setup. (I cannot comment on the quality of these fresnels because I do not know.)

You can use the standard triplet with a 17" setup, but people have reported problems with dark corners and edges. This can be solved with the Pro Triplet Lens. For my setup, I'm going to be using the standard triplet and then waiting for the pro triplet to come in.

I'm not very concerned with the size of my projector, so I'm not very familiar with smaller designs for a 17" setup, but I'm sure you'll be able to find a good folded design that you can use.
