Hi everyone, my name is Matt. ive just recently gotten into diy projection, starting at diyaudio.com. Thats how i found my way here, and boy am i glad i did. the free sites have a lot of good things going for them, knowledgable members, some good links; but nowhere that ive found has the organization that ive seen here, thanks for this awsome resource.
So heres what my plan is -
15inch daewoo L510b1 Lcd
LL lens/fresnell
ushio 400dd lighting/ s51 ballast
uncertain about cooling
uncertain about reflector
uncertain about box style

Heres my 15in Daewoo as it is being stripped.

i pretty much have everything else in neg. or in transit, but i dont know which style case to use. im in a toss up between the haas box and pun15ers style, i think i will go with the haas, purely becuase of its simplicity and i wont be wasting light bouncing off of mirrors. any thoughts? id also like to hear what other designs you guys like/ think are successfull. ive got a few planks of cherry and oak out in the wood shed, i think i'll try to make a cherry one w/ dark cherry stain.
Also, with the 400dd lights, do i need to have any lexan/ir glass between the bulb and my lcd? i think i will cool the box with a pair of 80mm computer fans. will these be sufficient for this bulb?

hey, whats the panel make and model of your LCD ? is it a hyundai panel?

sorry if I wasn't clear ;-), I meant the manufacturer of the actual lcd itself, I have a hyundai panel that came from a daewoo f227b and I was wondering if it was the same panel, tryikng to find info on it....

best of luck with your build.. quick question.. is that 90 degree bend cable on the edge connector going to cause any problems for you? do you plan on getting an extension for it?

yeah, my first answer was a rather smarta** one but I wasn't sure how you'd take it so I made it more politically correct...but anyway..back on topic.hey hoobatech. let us know how your new HPS ballast is when you get it(ie noise, flickering etc)..... I need to switch to 400 watts and if that one off ebay is any good I'll get one myself
