I popped a 17" panel into my projector. All optics are still standard LL 15"

I'm using Powerstrip to trim the video to an 1120X840 resolution, which is approximately the same size (Or a tad smaller) than a 15" panel.

I plan on reinstalling a 15" panel eventually.

Some screenies:

Everyone's seen Lilu. I find it interesting that when I cropped and resized this picture, Irfanview seems to have removed all the detail that was still there with the original on the left side.

Hey SupraGuy,

I have a 17" LCD with standard fresnal lenses for 15" monitor.

How exactly do you reduce the resolution with PowerStrip??
SupraGuy
Hello Mafoo.

Set your resolution to the native res of the panel.

Go into Powerstrip options, and there's a "lock total geometry" setting. Use that, when creating a new resolution. I found that 1120X896 worked well with the 17" panel, and kept the resolution under the 15" diagonal size.

Thanks so much supra..I will try it out

Hey SupraGuy... I just got my LL Pro lens and was about to order a 17" Samsung 740b LCD but I just read your post and was wondering why you are wanting to switch back to a 15" display.??? And if 15" is better for some reason which 15" would you recommend?
SupraGuy
With the standard lenses, 15" is better. With the pro lenses, 17" is definitely the way to go.

With the standard lenses, the throw is too short with a larger panel (IMO) so I've switched my old standard lens projector back to a 15" panel. My pro lens projector is using a 17" panel, though, and will continue to do so. I would consider a 19" panel for my pro lens projector if I can get one that's 1600X1200 native resolution, but otherwise, I'll stick to the 17" for 1280X1024.

This gallery is already out-of-date, though. smile.gif

SupraGuy, ever considered SGI 1600SW monitor with support for that res? Or are you worried about its slow response time - can' t remember if you're a gamer or not. I whole heartedly believe that this is one of the best monitors ever made and one that is every DIY's dream in terms of so many things including almost zero screen-door effect. I'm seriously considering using it for my PJ, Just waiting to get a hold of the PRO kit when funds become available. Your work has been inspiring, I must add - keep up the good work Sup.
