Guy at home depot suggested scoring with utility knife, but since lexan is tougher than glass, he had his doubts...

I bought a 10 x 24" piece and need to cut it. What is the best way to do this without a big money saw?

Put a straight edege on it and then cut down the line several times with a utility knife.

Then just set it on a table and bend the edge you just cut. It will snap right off.

Oh and use a pair of plyers if the edge is to small to grab good.

home depot has a plex knife that works great for $4 should be right near the XL10

I cut my with a jigsaw. I used a blade with alot of teeth and went slow so I didn't melt the lexan.

Get Plastic Cutter from Home Depot.

For any material that I want a smooth edge and no splintering, I tightly sandwich it between two pieces of scrap wood and cut it on the table saw taking advantage of the fence for a straight cut. Same thing goes with drilling holes.

The table saw is a great Idea put masking tape on the top and bottom it will prevent from shafing same with a jigsaw
good luck

Really guys all that is overkill for the XL10. Just score it and snap it.
It makes a nice clean edge and it works every time.

Yeah it does, but you know what? If I had a table saw I would use it for every cut. Nice and square everytime.

Why didn't you buy 11" X 14" LX10 from Home Depot?

You know that makes no sense. "yea your way works perfect and is quicker but I'm going to do it my way which takes longer and can scratch the plastic. " rolleyes.gif

Oh well to each his own.
