I decided to use a Dell 1505 FP for my projector project. I got it off Ebay brand new for $189 shipped. Specs:

400:1 contrast
16ms response
VGA & DVI
Screen dimensions = 12 1/4 x 9 1/4 (W x H)
No FFCs except from buttons to controller board

Here is a pic of the panel. I received it new so the stand wasnt yet attached.

And the rear:

Start by popping the front face plate off. Insert a screwdriver in the slots in the bottom shown here:

Work your way around until you can remove the front cover. Peel off the tape holding the front buttons in place.

With the front removed, remove the 4 screws in the rear and remove the rear half.

Place the innards face down. Remove the 2 pieces of tape and unplug the backlighting.

Turn the monitor so you are looking at the USB ports. Remove the circled screw to be able to slide USB port cover off. Once the cover is off you can unplug the cables from the controller board (vga board side, not usb port side). You can also remove the ffc for the front buttons. It is sticky taped in a couple of places so pull it up carefully, and then unplug it from the vga controller board.

Remove the 4 screws on the side of the metal frame pictured here (2 on each side):

Now we can lift the metal rear frame off but we need to take some more screws out so we can remove the cards. Remove the circled screws around the power, vga, and dvi connectors. Also remove the circled 4 screws from the back. These are holding the heatsinks on the power supply to the frame.

Now you can lift the rear frame off, but be careful, the vga controller is still connected to the bottom of the panel. Remove the 4 screws holding the vga controller board in the frame. Then you can disconnect the cables from the controller board and seperate it from the assembly. The connector from the controller to the panel has glue on it you will need to peel off.

Now remove the 4 screws holding the power supply to the frame and remove it.

Now carefully peel up the tape over the top panel connectors and remove the 2 tiny gold screws holding it to the backlighting. The connectors are themselves glued to the rear of the backlighting assembly so peel them up carefully. Then you can use a screwdriver to slip the aluminum frame off the front and the panel can be seperated from the backlighting assembly.

The pictures were hosted on the member's personal website and they've since moved on.
But stealthsurfer was here today, so he might fix the links, if'n he's still got the pictures.

Fortunately, other members have used this monitor.
Google search for site:lumenlab.com Dell 1505FP
And I found this strip guide in prjavelin's PLOG.
