Hi,
I purchased the LumenLab manual in August of last year. I was all excited to get started but at that time there were some concerns surrounding which bulb and ballast worked best. I purchased the 1005 lens kit but put everything on hold until this problem has been resolved.

Well, I'm hoping by now that the bulb/ballast combination as well as suppliers for same have been resolved.

My question is should I order the 1022B Ultimate Light kit? This is to be used with a 15" projector.

Also, a year ago we were discuss the Norpro bowl as a reflector. What is the current recommendation for a reflector to be used with the 1022B Ultimate Lighting kit.

Thanks in advance for any assistance as I am anxiously ready to start this project again.

Best regards,

Ken

The ultimate light kit works fine with a 15" projector. That's what I'm using, as well as many others.

Some people seem to have issues with the ballast. There's a thread in here somewhere about the EBallast. Most cases, it works fine, and there is no reason to expect that it will not. It should not be run in the light chamber of your projector, for heat reasons. It will get hot, even outside of the projector, unless you fan-cool it.

Some people are reporting a green tint with the S400DD lamp. I was getting some of that as well, but it was mostly the fault of my LCD, as I determined later. As soon as I changed out my LCD, the green tint went away. Go figure.

On the whole, I think that the LL ultimate light kit is a good product.

The current choice for a reflector is (last I checked) the Ikea SOARE napkin holder. This works very well with the S400DD lamp, (Or any other T15 form factor lamp. It will NOT work with a BT37 or other large lamp,) and I am using it with great satisfaction.

Joe Werb was selling these on his website, in the Trading Post. I now believe that Ricoks is selling them, while Joe is otherwise occupied. Or, if you live close to an Ikea, you can just get them yourself.

Also possibly of interest to you is the use of Lexan XL10 as a heat shield/UV filter. This will provide a brighter image than tempered glass with a UV filter attatched. You may also want to look into an IR filter to keep your LCD temperatures down.
