Would this be the same thing as using a VGA transcoder, such as a Vdigi VD-Z3?

Thanks!
ramblemn
nope.

that's used for commerical projectors that use a common VGA analog that can handle both VGA from computer.

or component set to certain pins on the vga head.

Our LCD's need a computer VGA input, that's what the transcoder gives you.

I just borrowed one from a friend at work, and WOW.

It's not the same as the v-digi, but some LCD monitors support sync on green (SOG) and therefore this cable would work just fine.

The VP171b lists"composite synch-on-green" in the specs, is that what I'm looking for? This means I could use the cable listed here with that monitor?

Thanks!

Just for the archives, I bought the VP171s, as well as a 60$ component to VGA cable to test, and I get no signal. DVI works, but the cable does not.

Not sure why, the VP171s support SOG, but I'm going to try a transcoder.
