Hey folks,
I am currently in the planning proess of my PJ and am curious as to which of these would be the best for gaming, mostly xbox and playstation with the ocassional PC game.
Hyundai L72S LCD Monitor 700:1 8ms
Dell 1702FP LCD Monitor 500:1 25ms
Samsung 712N LCD Monitor 600:1 12ms
Dell 1704FPV LCD 1000:1 25ms
I was leaning towards the Dell 1704FPV but I have been told by some that the 25ms will kill the gaming experience. Any feedback is appreciated.
Thanks,
Jim

I've been playing my xbox for the past few days on my 25ms projector, and although I wouldn't say it's 'killing' the gaming, I can see a bit of ghosting in games like Halo and Forza Motorsports. It's really not bad, but if you're a pure FPS'er, it'll probably be too much to handle.
I don't know anything at all about it, but from your specs, the
Hyundai L72S LCD Monitor 700:1 8ms
sounds sweet. What kinda price are you finding for it?

The best price I have found for it is $229.00 at Mwave. Thanks for your reply.

I used the samsung LTN-1565. Half of the time we're playing PS2 on the pj. This LCD has a 25 ms too. The results we're excellent even Gran Turismo 3 and 4 look good. One thing to know is that this LCD has inputs for a PC and TV- RF input, component video and s-video.

I have the dell 1702fp and it does really good with minimal ghosting but you'll have to keep the monitor at it's highest setting. I mostly play Unreal Tournament 2004. It's very fast paced and has very quick motion. I was unhappy with it at first until I set the resolution up to it's highest settings. I will probably get at least an 8ms one next time. I will probably just purchase one just for my pc. I am looking at the new HD LCD from Gateway. It's 600.00.
I am now currently building my pj with the Dell 1702fp (it's torn down)but I have used it for the last 9 months. They are relatively high priced for a LCD that's been out for so long. 240 to 260 dollars is about the going rate for one of these.

I too am mainly a UT2004 player, and to be honest at 16ms I do see minor ghosting, not enough to bug me too much, but I do see it. I also did not really notice it much until I viewed my LCD side by side with my CRT, this was before I stripped it down I tested that. Now that I have seen it, I tend to notice it more. But again, I don't find it bad enough to bug me to much. Also with LCDs you wil want to run them in there native res, so if you have a 15 inch panel you will want to run your game in 1024x768, or on a 17 inch 1280x1024 etc.
Also Cold Steel what name do you usually play under, I will add you to my buddies list and keep my eye out for you. I think you are east coast and I am west, but if I see you on a central server I will jump in and do some huge screen head to head carnage hehe.

Hey my ut name is [toj.cc]ColdSteel
I just love UT. I am stuck on dialup though. I've done everything I can to get broadband to my home and no one is providing other than a satellite.(suxxors for gaming) I even emailed the governor and the house representative.
pm me here and we'll set up a time/date to UT.
I think I'll buy a gateway hdtv lcd for my computer. It's new.
linky
http://www.gateway.com/programs/lcd/ I'll wait for a discount before purchasing though. $600.00
