well guy's i got mine going tonight!!!!!!!
i must say that this is the best thing that i have ever seen...
i will post some pictures of this thing in action probably tomorrow.
i finally have the BIG screen tv i have always wanted...
a brief rundown of my setup
samsung ltn1565 (s) version
all lenses from lumen lab
all lighting equipment from lighting unlimited/the new 400 watt hor eye lamp
norpro reflector
100cfm fan
mdf enclosure
bed sheet from the wife's linnen closet
for the enclosure i made a sub box section in front to hold the lcd controler(you will see when i post picts.)
i set this projector up to be a floor mounted model with keystone correction.
i still have to build the entertainment (trunk) however that will hold the projector, suround system, playstation ect. and movie storage area.
i could not believe my eyes when i turned this thing on. i switched everything on and slowly the picture started to come through untill the lamp turned fully on and whalla a nice bright even lit 115" clear image ok ok well i did have to focus it a little bit but other than that every thing was dead on for alignment. (thanks to brains great measurments and guide)
i am so glad that i found this site and went through with it and made the projector.
ok thanks time biggrin.gif
thank you brain for sharing your design with the community, you the man cool.gif
thanks guys, this group has been a great help, supportive, and fun
thanks to my wife who has been waiting for me to finnish it for quite a while. wink.gif
so now i need to get a good screen for it. my wife said wow now that this is running go get a good screen...spare no expense.. yea it looks that good.

ohmy.gif Truely inspiring. Everytime I see knew results like this I want to start my project. Unfortunately my first priority is to purchase a truck to pull my horse trailer ( whole different forum, I know). Great job Moose.

Great pics. Every different project that I look at offers me some other angle or different idea. I don't recall seeing a pic of the light hitting the inward side of the triplet lens, that clearly shows the centering.

As I am still planning and reading, I still find myself shocked every time I hear numbers like "oh yea and the size is 110" diagonal" ohmy.gif I still can't get over the results and the S I Z E!

Great job!

You earned it!
moose
thanks 2ndSeason,
i can't get over it either, this project has been a blast. i love the results that i have now and i still have some things to do to make it better.
to start with, like i said before i need to get something for a good screen. that is only going to make it better. next the projector is only running of my playstation with rca connections. i hooked it up to it just to see if it would work. now i have to hook it up to my surround system with progressive scan dvd player and component connections. and i have to build the entertainment trunk that will hold all of this. still alot of work to do but now i have results wink.gif

Looks great Moose ohmy.gif I definitely like the shots of Bruce, the shark for those without kids smile.gif Also it looks like the Norpro bowl worked out really well. Also glad to hear the wife is behind you on the screen...mine is still a little skeptical about where all the money goes etc but I think she'll be ready to spend more money once she sees the results.

Those pics look really good moose i hope to post some pics tonight of proj, i have built the box and put in the light and the fan but that is all for now, i am not sure i am using the right kind of bowl for the reflector, i will post some pics tonight to get some advice.

but very good job moose i hope to get mine done soon going crazy with all the good screenshots.
OKflyboy
ohmy.gif Moose, it looks freakin' awesome, man! I like the rig you've got holding your bowl in place, and how you've got the pj on 'legs' of sorts so your connections are on the bottom too!

BTW, I also found lumenlab while searching for a new TV. Personally I had always wanted a projector, and have been a avscience.com drooler ever since I saw David Bott's home theater probably five or six years ago. I knew a commercial projector was over my budget so I tried the 'lens in front of your TV' scam and was heartbroken that it didn't work. After being burned there, it took me weeks of lurking around here before I took the plunge, I am so glad that I did, and so glad that even though I've had setbacks in finishing mine, I can still hang around here and see great results like yours to keep me motivated.

Thanks Man! wink.gif

Nice Job, i like the shot of the lens area,

Brain can you take a pic of yours sometime? with the light on it...

With My new layout and projector on my test i can see a perfect picture of the bulb on the front where the lens goes if i put a paper there but it is slightly wider than the lens? is this normal or i need to adjust the focal lenth slightly?

thanks, Joe

All I can say is WOW smile.gif Like the setup for the keystone adjustment. Your results are amazing Moose. I am getting really excited to get mine going. Once finals are done I will have all the time I need.

pjgibbs,
the leangth of the box is 34.5" outside dim., it gave me ample room for everything.

ok guys, i found out that i can make mistakes too. after taking these pictures last night i noticed that i didn't have the fresnels lined up properly. the field lens i had set to clear the lcd board with the light/reflector and projection lens to match and didn't set the collector to match. go figure... anyway i must stress that you pay carefull attention to your line up. i corrected the problem and i now believe that i have double the brightness i previously had. the collector center was sitting a full 1/2" below the light path.....also before i was constantly changing the contrast/color,ect. for each movie i put in, now i have consistant true color no matter what i through at it. infact i now use the preset screen settings that are on the monitor. there are dynamic/normal/and movie settings on this thing. also i now notice that the image is smoother(no pixelation) and there is no noticeable screen door effect. i am getting a true black in the picture but now i may have too much light as i sometimes need to put the screen on movie mode which is the darkest setting in the presets. i will post new pictures when i get my screen made. again if you have yours running and have to play with the colors/contrast, and you can't see your picture good with 2 to 3 roomlights on, check your alignment. wink.gif

ok guys, i found out that i can make mistakes too.

Isn't it nice to know that we are very happy with the results even when we mess things up, like the lens alignments. And then finding a mistake later only makes it better?

Makes me feel a little better when starting my box this weekend that I can have a few mistakes and still be blown away by the quality biggrin.gif
