After miles of reading I have my first question , if I understand this correctly the pro lens kit is for 17" build ? Also could somebody check out this monitor

1. Check in the Compatible and Incompatible LCD list to see if the display you have is present in there. If not than you may be opening a can of worms and it'll be your responsibility to open up (very carefully) the unit and see if it's suitable for the project. Many here have done so and created what you now can read in the list mentioned above.

Compatible list: http://www.lumenlab.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4
Incompatible monitors list: http://www.lumenlab.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=61

2. I would advise to start with a 15 PJ to sharpen your theeth on the project and choose a proven strip-friendly LCD model.

3. Sounds like you want to custom make a wide screen PJ out of that Widescreen display, but remember that for the wide screen is not only the triplet that counts. If you change the dimensions of the source monitor you will most likely need to change the size of the fresnels as well. Although I am not too strong on the optical side of the PJ in this case... Any talented LL member can please comment and elaborate further on this point to help our new fellow DIYer?

Good luck with your PJ Marty!
