Nice! You say you switched bulbs already? The one from Home Depot... is it the "400 Watt Philips Clear Metal Halide Bulb"? 20,050 lumens, 10,000 hr life. That was the only bulb I could find on their website. Theoretically this bulb should less bright than the Ushio you had.

Im glad your lcd is still working; putting the electronics directly on carpet like that is a bad idea. Static electricity can kill that stuff in a heartbeat.

You know I hear that all the time but I've been working on electronics for 16 years and heve yet to kill anything with static electricity. (knock on wood).

When I was in the business of repairing voltage regulators for airplanes I even tried on purpose to fry some very sensitive parts by walking on carpet, scuffing my feet, etc. Never could fry anything. Not that I recommend that. laugh.gif

But I gues the first time I kill a part I'll probably take it more seriously. sad.gif

You may have done it and not known it.

Most cases of ESD damage is undetected, the CMOS chips are undiagnosed to be at fault and then tossed in the trash.

ESD is a big deal, and most places with service tecnicials require them to work off of an ESD mat, and where a grouned ESD bracelet.

BTW wouldnt Voltage regulators for an Airplane be a high current device that could handle the ESD shock?

Any pics of your current setup with new screen and bulb? for steady pics try a tripod and use the timer on the cam. or if you dont have a tripod set the cam on top of your PJ and set the timer. Nice job BTW. wait til you get a reflector!

At one point I moved my bulb closer. Yes, it was brighter, but only in the center (hotspotting) and the corners became dimmer. Give or take, I guess.

Hi jonjandran,

We are building our PJ based on the same panel so i think it would be good to share some info. I just found out from Supraguy that i need to use unsplit frensels ohmy.gif. That was a mistake i made  Are you going to use unsplit option too? will you use the new pro lens with the fresnels from 3dlens?

I posted a question to Supraguy about the best way to align the unsplit frensels if there is a way to mark the middle of the frensels to align them without damaging them.

Would the 550 FL frensel from 3dlens work with the new pro lens? Im thinking about the comment that SupraGuy made about a finer grove pitch when using the WUXGA panel. The 550 from 3dlens.com is 0.2 grove pitch. LL's is 0.5

Nice images, you had me worried for a second until Iread that your screen is in two parts so the line is the screen not the LCD. biggrin.gif

exposure time?

hey jonjandran,
very nice pixes, thanks
could you do me a favor by taking some inside pix of your pj, and the outside, if possible please do include the spec of your pj.. thanks
mikelish
I was simply questioning on the exposure time because i can make my projecter look tenfold better then i view. Its nice to see you have results that match your photo. Specifically the black bars on the movies are visable, they are barely visable on mine, even with a glass bead screen.

What bulb are you using, i was trying to read your plog but it seemed as though you had bulb switcharoo prior smile.gif .

Cheers, i would never aim to insult you sir, you do great work here and in intel design.

Do you find the 25ms response time slow?

I would use a faster shutter speed (.1-.5s) to more emphasize the variance.

Just a thought smile.gif

Wow...

i think i you just justified the 20$ I dropped yesterday...

Whats more noticable (as the 2nd image is out of focus) , is the black bar at the top of A and B. Much more defined with the photo B.

Looks good, ill get on replacing mine soon.

With the Depp pictures - are the light conditions the same? Or is one with light - one without? Or is it before and after?

Yea the Depp pics show the difference better. The stones on his right and the brightness in his hat show the 15% increase in brightness.

jonjandran, it looks great Ok im sold on the new refector.

Everything is the exact same , just a before and after with the Ikea and then the Pro reflector.
